OT not into pampered chef
HI to the List,
A few of my friends/acquaintances are into Pampered Chef. It really is not my thing. I like to go to the stores and buy what I like when I need it, plus we eat out a lot(I know, not so great). Anyway a friend of mine sent me a pampered Chef invite in the mail to a party at her home. I like her and she's very nice, but I really dont want to go. I have also bought Pampered Chef from someone(thru a catalog) a few months ago so I really have all I need, Should I white lie and say Ill be away. I really dont like to white lie. Or should I tell her the truth and tell her I dont need anything and I dont like Pampered Chef parties? Thanks, Amy K, NJ

I would say, "I really just can't right now". People seem to understand that. Besides, in this economy, why buy something you don't enjoy and/or particularly need? PS Telling a white lie is easier, but then she'll just give you the catalogue and ask you if you want to order something.

I believe in being honest, but some people do make that hard. If it's someone who really won't handle "I'd rather not" well, I would make other plans and then say, "sorry, I have other plans." Not a lie, and perhaps kinder than the "whole truth," depending on the person. I might also add that it's really not my thing, to avoid getting another uncomfortable invite next time.

I've held Pampered Chef parties before (as a favor to a friend who sells) and I ALWAY tell my friends when I invite them that they aren't obligated to come. I bet if you just tell your friend you orderd elsewhere before you knew about her pary and just don't need anything else, she'll understand.

Thank you all for your help. I think Ill go with the truth whether she likes it or not. I will just say that I ordered stuff from the Pamperd Chef already and funds are a bit tight. She can't say much about that.

Funny, my friends don't care. If you don't want to buy anything, so what come anyway. Have a glass of wine, visit with the girls without the kids after the demonstrator leaves. Wine, snacks, kid free time - what else could you ask for?

i'm not into the white lie thing. why not just say that you appreciate the invite but you've got everything you need and are just super busy...(if you are, of course.)
