I don't have an answer but wanted to thank you for posting this. I was just about to post asking what I needed to file to get our papers back. Thanks for the info and I am also interested in the answer to this question as well.

We did not send ours to the buffalo office. We sent ours to Texas but it came back from MN (I think, don't have it in front of me rigth now, I just know it didn't come from the same office we sent it to). We got our packet back within 3 weeks of sending it. We were shocked!!!!

We did this thru the Buffalo office last Fall and I was shocked at how quickly we got the packet. I think it took a month total, from the date our request was mailed to the date we signed for the packet from USPS.

We will be sending ours to Missouri soon. We just filed out N-600 so not sure if I should send the G-884 yet or wait. Anyone else go thru Missouri?

Make sure you remember to email and make sure the file is at that location before sending.


Our file took 6 weeks to return from Buffalo..

We sent our paperwork to the Buffalo office during the 2nd week of January and got the files back today (well, actually Saturday, but nobody was home to sign for it.). I overnighted the forms and I think it took about 2.5 weeks to get everything back. I was amazed! I cant wait to sit down and look through it all...

I just sent ours to the MO office last week. I thought the G884 should go to Newark, since they were the last office that worked on our case (they issued C of C in November). But I emailed them and was told to send the request to Lees Summit, MO. Not sure why, but I sent it there. My son had an IR4 Visa, maybe that's why.

I'll post when I hear something.

You emailed the childcitizenship@whatever it is address that Cbrosa7 and I have posted? And they said to send it to Lee's Summit?

Ever since Don took over the Buffalo office and the processing of the COC's and G884's, the packets seem to be getting filed really quickly.

It is possible your local office never pulled the file for the processing of the N600 if you provided all the necessary paperwork. Or they could have just quickly got it returned to Lee's Summit for filing.

We mailed ours of to the Buffalo office on 17 january2009. So hopefully some where in March we will receive something. We are having an APO and i don't know if that makes a difference. It did with the CoC. So I did put a note in there in case they wanted a State side address to contact us. So far nothing which i'm taking as a good sign.

Debbie- I also think it's odd too that we were told to send our G884 to MO. I searched this forum for all the G884 posts and was convinced we should send the papers to the last office that processed our case (Newark).

So I figured I'd email Don at USCIS ( at Child-Citizenship-Act@dhs.gov) to doublecheck, in case our file was somewhere else. And here is his email:

The directions on the G884 do still say to send it to the last office that took action on the case. But ever since Don took over in Buffalo, he has been pushing for people to email and check the location of the pacekt before mailing the G884, and it sure seems to be working. Everyone seems to be getting their packets back in record time.

I would bet either your local office didn't pull the packet - if you submitted all the documentation with it they wouldn't have needed it - or they had already sent it back to the National Records Center.
