Hello Everyone,
I've been off the grid for awhile, but still reading. We are on the downhill slide of our 2nd adoption from Guatemala and I have a few questions as some things have changed.
1. Last DNA was done on 1/22 or 23rd; when should results be received at USE?

2. How long is wait until "Pink" from Embassy from receipt of DNA results?

3. What forms to I need to take to USE with a prior visit? Signed & notaried I864W and notarized Vaccine affadavit; anything else?

4. Does USE issue interview appointments Mon-Fri or any days exclusive?

Results may have been shipped back Friday adn arrive tomorrow. If Labcorp handled the test you can email Pat Sprague there and she can let you know if it shipped and give you the fed ex tracking number.

Usually the results get there around 3-4 PM and so you MAY get pink that day, otherwise the next working day.

the DS-230 part 1 and 2. The rest should be provided by the attorney (1-600, baby's passport and medicals and photos). You'll need proof of visit but your passport stamps should suffice.

4. Does USE issue interview appointments Mon-Fri or any days exclusive?

Last I heard it was Mon - Thurs....

I'll give your answer a stab. If your DNA sample was taken on the 22nd or 23rd, it should have been sent to the US on the 23rd and arrived in the US on Monday the 26th.

If your sample is going to Lab Corp I would email Pat S. She will tell you if your sample arrived and will let you know when it is on it's way back to Guatemala City and give you the tracking number so that you will know when it arrives in Guatemala City. You can email her at spragup@labcorp.com

If it did arrive in the US on the 26th it should leave the US around the 30th or the 1st or 2nd. Then back to Guatemala around the 3rd or 4th and you should be Pink on the 9th or 10th with an appointment on the 17th or 18th. I would email Pat ASAP!! Good Luck!!

Dear Stephanie,

Thanks! I called lab and results will be fed-ex'd Wed 2/4, should arrive at USE on 2/5. Maybe we'll get pink on Friday the 6th. But I have a feeling that our interview appointment will be either 2/13 (Friday with a holiday on the 16th) or will be on the 17th. I so wish we could have an earlier date, but...we've waiting this long; a few more days is a drop in the bucket!

The Vaccine Affadavit is a notarized paper stating that you will continue to keep child's vaccines current. But be aware....this may only be required by my agency or attorney. Please check with your agency or facilitator as it may not be required of you. If it is, it's very easy and you just bring the notarized copy with you.

I think the vaccine affidavit was part of the pink packet. You printed it out, signed that you promised to keep you kids up to date with shots, and had that notarized. No biggie, just a one more thing to put on the to-do list in those days between pink and flight!

Lois - they historically don't issue many pinks on Friday, although you never know. If it gets there Thursday you'll probably have to wait until Monday for the appointment packet and then your appointment will be the 17th. We were in a similar spot with J's adoption--DNA got to the embassy Thursday and then didn't get touched until Monday (got Pink at 5 PM eastern time) and then we had a holiday on the next monday so our appt was Tuesday.

Our DNA results got to the Embassy on Thursday, we didn't get an email for PINK until Monday late that evening. Our appt was scheduled for that Wed. because we were already in Guat and let the Embassy know we were there.

Also they were only doing appts on Mon-Wed. The day of our appt. the officer scheduled to do the interviews was sick and they had to bring us all back on Thursday. We were the only ones in the Embassy that day because they usually don't do appts on Thurs or Friday, although they do issue Visas on those days.

This is some great info to know! I was wondering if they did hand out the Visa's on Thursdays/Fridays, but just didn't do interviews; good to know.

Guess what? I received an email from my agency today stating the DNA results were sent today instead of being sent out tomorrow, so maybe....we'll get a pink on Thursday. I'm kinda wanting to make flight arrangements for 2/10, hoping the appointment would be 2/11....should I??????

I know we've been waiting over a year and a few more days will not hurt, but....

I'd wait on booking the flight till you know for sure, because you have to pick a return date too. You're soooo close!

The USE requires the vaccine affidavit. You can print it out, sign it and have it noartized and bring it with you. If your agrncy doesn't give you a from, you can also just type one up yourself, promising to keep the vaccinationas up to date.

With our first adoption, our agency forgot to tell us about the vaccine affidavit. The USE just made us sign one at the window - no biggie.
