We got Isaac on March 28, it's a special day as I never had to give him back and we were forever a family. March 31 was our embassy day, and we came home April 3rd. I guess people celebrate it on any of these days...I'm just curious what day everyone chose and why.

I think we will celebrate March 28th.

I chose December 17 for our Family day. It was the day i first met my daughter on my pickup trip.

We are going to celebrate November 8th as our Forever Family Day. It was the day we got to Guatemala and never had to give her back.

We celebrate the day that we first had Curtis in our arms forever (Feb 10th) - that is when DH & I first felt like we were a complete family. Curtis is our first, and I note that if we had another child at home who did not join us for pick up then I would celebrate on the day that we came home and were together as a complete family for the first time. I feel this way because I think of it as a celebration of becoming a family and not gotcha per se.

We also celebrate the day we had Malea in our arms forever. Feb 4th!! For us that is the day we became a whole family.

we chose the day our first kids moved in, thus the beginning of our family, as our family day. for eli's individual, we chose the day he arrived in the US...and literally joined our family.

I basically recognize that whole week - the day I received physical custody, embassy day, visa day, homecoming day - each has its own importance. My older daughter's birthday happens to be right in the middle of all that, so it's a bit tricky for us. This is something I still have to figure out as my kids get old enough to understand. I may actually pick a different date entirely so as to separate it from the birthday. Like, maybe I will choose the date of my kids' Guatemalan adoption decree, or the date when I first met them on a visit trip.

We celebrate the day she landed in the US and came home. I was such a paranoid mess towards the end of DD's adoption that I didn't breathe a sigh of relief and believe that she was actually mine forever until we made it through customs in Houston. That being said, the day we first flew to Guatemala for our visit and met her means so much to me--it was really THE day that my life would never be the same.

I think we will celebrate October 24th as it is the day we got to the US and all of us were united as a family.

Kirbystarcat, we must have posted at almost the same time. We also came in through Houston and I felt exactly the same way you did! I don't think I fully exhaled until we walked through those last set of doors and saw everyone waiting for us.

Today is our first forever family day and it is the day DS was placed in our arms forever!

We celebrate the day we brought them home and we actually were here in US and they were home with dad as hubby couldnt come to pick up do to work.
Also is ds birthday that was are goal to get them home by his birthday.

we celebrate Family Day on April 12th - the day we first met our daughter on our first visit trip - it was the day we first looked into her eyes and realised we had met our daughter! We also read the paperwork when we got home after pick-up and noticed that PGN had 'signed off' on April 12th! (did not release file for another 8 weeks ...) so that date became even more significant for us
