Guatemalan Coffee - Ideas where to buy?
Ok after bringing home 20 lbs and then receiving gifts from others of coffee from Guatemala when they visited or picked up, our supply is now at a critical level ! Has anyone ordered coffee from Guatemala online and if so was it as fresh and delicious as the coffee that we have been enjoying? What sites do you recommend. I'm not sure if responses to this will be allowed on line so please pm me and I will be glad to share the info with others who might want it. Caffeine withdrawl will not be good, anyone know of a good rehab center or Coffeeholics Anonymous chapter! Thanks Amy & Steve |

I don't know about any on line sites, but if you have a Whole Foods or Sprouts nearby, you might check them out. I've bought Guatemalan coffee from my local ones.
And yes...coffee websites are fine to post. (strictly retail ones that is...not affiliated with an agency/adoption service)

We actually have a few places where we can buy it here in the Syracuse area. The Fair trade Market store, A coffee shop in the area and Wegmans (grocery store) are a few places where we have gotten it and have seen it.
We mostly get it at the Fair trade when we go there. Ask different places in your area. i think you will be surprised at how many places you find it. Someone even told me they got it at Starbucks. That being said..... I still feel like the coffee we brought back from Guatemala was better and the coffee we had when we were in Guatemala was out of this world. LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!!

I order my Guate coffee
from Juan Ana Coffee - San Lucas coffee is delicious, inexpensive and the proceeds go directly to the people of San Lucas Toliman. Enjoy! ![]()

awesome, affordable direct-from-Guatemala coffee
A semi-secret, excellent option for incredible roasted-on-site Guatemalan coffee is through a coffeeshop/hang-out in Panajachel called the Crossroads Cafe. The owners, Mike and Adele, live in Pana with their kids and are fanatics about coffee... seriously some of the best I have ever tried. Worth a stop by if you're around the Lake, as their little shop is always full of ex-pats, locals, missionaries and assorted travelers.
Through their website, you can order coffee by email on the honor system(!) - when someone is traveling back to the US, they bring back coffee with them, and a local contact sends it to you. After receiving your coffee, you send a check back to the US contact. Weird but it works. And very affordable. (Adele says they are working on a paypal system.) Anyway, Mike is a master coffee roaster, they are good people who help local laborers and families, and you'll have a super cup of Joe direct from the shores of Lake Atitlan. Here's a link: CROSSROADS CAFE, Panajachel, Guatemala on Lake Atitlan Enjoy your addiction! --pamcita ps - this could get me reported, but my almost-2-year-old LOVES coffee. Her favorite treat is "a little bit" of Mama's coffee with lots of warm milk. what can I say? I think it's in her genes. (she also HATES the cold New England winter we're suffering through.) |

I've not ordered coffee from this retailer, but had the Guatemalan coffee at the store and bought some beans. It was yummie!!
Coffee, Coffee Accessories & Gifts :: Leelanau Coffee Roasting Co. They are located in the Northern part of Michigan. This coffee house is great as well, my sister gets coffee every couple months from them. They are right by my house!! Weve ordered from www.cafeazotea.com
Its one of the coffees you could buy at the Westin shop too. Otherwise my husband buys Guatemalan coffee from Alterra or World Market.

Check with your local small coffee shops. Ours doesn't normally carry it, but orders it for us. I've also ordered from Juan Ana Coffee. I do like the Juan Ana Coffee better than the stuff we can get locally.

I had the same issue right before the holidays and found this place from Traverse City, Michigan that has really good Guatemalan coffee and they donate $5.50 per bag to helping the kids in the Guatemala City garbage dump for buying the Safe Passage coffee. The link to that specific coffee is:
Safe Passage Blend - Rich and Bold Coffee from Santa Anita - Coffees For Change - Higher Grounds Trading Company I am a picky coffee drinker - must buy whole bean and grind as needed, etc. and I found this coffee to be really, really good. My mother in law just found a place in Brooklyn, Michigan that has Antigua's best coffee that they actually roast on the premises. If I can find the website, I'll post that one too. I'm glad you started this thread - now I might try some others and do my own home taste test! ![]()

I don't know if there is a website for the Brooklyn, MI place I mentioned, but I just called my MIL for the info on the place. It is Evelyn Bay Coffee House on Main Street - right behind Theresa's Angels. If any of you are ever in the sprawling metropolis of Brooklyn, MI, I highly suggest you try it out!
Delicious Guatemalan coffee - fresh roasted! She just picked me a bag up today that the owner had to take out of the roaster to bag up for her -- I can't wait!
