I'm just checking in to see how everyone is doing! Things are noisy and wonderful in our house. Tony has been with us for four months, and he and Evan are brothers in every sense of the word. Fighting and playing and sharing and not-sharing. It's like they're each other's missing piece.

Tony is having problems with speech--the same in spanish and in english. His speech is incredibly delayed and often incomprehensible. Basically, he talks now (at age 3 and a half) the way Evan talked at 2 years old. He says words, but only we can understand them. They're not clear at all. And he speaks with as few words as possible--pointing, grunting. I have yet to hear him say a sentence. I'm taking him for an auditory assessment in a week, and we'll see where it goes from there. To me, that seems like such a small problem after all of the waiting and hoping...we'll get over that tiny hurdle.

My prayers continue to go out to those of you who are waiting. And I look forward to catching up with my forum friends. Let me know how you're doing!

It just warms my heart to see Tony and Evan hugging They are so very handsome, and it is always great to see that dimple again! Hope things go well with your speech assessment - therapy sure has been wonderful for my little man.

They look great, like true brothers! My GuatTot has been home for 3 1/2 months too. He will be 3yrs old in April, and his speech is funny too. He doesn't say sentences but he moves his mouth and jiberjabbers like he is really talking. He can say some words that we understand. I can relate to your post, post and let us know how the evaluation goes. I'm glad things are going well for you!

Congratulations! The boys are beautiful. Sounds similar to my 2 children (my DD came home 1 month ago) and the fighting is hard to deal with but to be expected. My DD is also 3.5 yrs old and her speech is definitely delayed. While she can say full sentences and many words are understandable, many, many words are not--and I am fluent in Spanish. Also, she seems to not recognize or retain the names of animals or even body parts. Today, she pointed to her ears and said, "ojos" (eyes). Yet she is so smart and capable. It's worrisome and we'll be having her evaluated as well. Please do post after your son's assessed.
