Tax Question on a Failed Adoption
Is my reading and understanding of the Adoption Credit correct - The credit can only be taken on a completed adoption. What about a failed adoption costs? Is there any way to recoup those costs?

No expenses can be recouped on a failed international adoption. They can be recouped on a failed domestic adoption. At least, that's the way I understand it.

KayV is correct. When you adopt internationally you do not qualify for the adoption tax credit until the adoption is finalized. If it never finalizes you never qualify for the credit. Sorry.
