Ditto. I went to your blog last week to see how Carmen is doing and to see how your holidays were. You & your husband's comments are so poignant--especially how you choose to respond to "comments" left by readers to the blog. Praying that Carmen is comfortable, that she is responding to the medication and that you are all at peace.

Blessings to you,
Damaris

I saw one of Sisterbears's ( Lana )friends before Christmas and she said they are doing well. I have not seen Lana since the summer, but I did speak to her in either Oct. or Nov. and they were doing well. Carmen has to see a dr. soon to help her get rid of the C. Diff. that she has had for awhile. The best way to keep up with Sisterbear (Lana) is to follow her blog.

Please continue to keep Carmen in your prayers. She is still fighting and continues to have seizures. Hopefully, the drs. can get her seizures under control soon with new medicine.

Lana- if you read this, I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas and New Years.

Martina

I'm here! Thanks for asking about us!

Carmen is doing OK. The disease continues to progress but at the moment she is OK. She is blind and unresponsive and seizure-ridden but she seems very content. This past summer we thought we were going to lose her because of severe breathing problems and heart-stopping episodes but she made it through. And she hasn't repeated any of those episodes since.

We have been battling C-diff (a horrid infection that causes massive diarrhea) since end of July. Despite I think 7 courses of antibiotics, the darn stuff won't go away. We are taking her to an infectious disease specialist next month because the pediatrician and gastroenterologist have reached their limit on knowing what to do. I have cleaned up 500+ diarrhea messes and there is no end in sight!

We have been going round and round about what to do about more children. Our older daughter is 5 and I always hoped for children close in age. Carmen is 2.5 and I was so happy that the girls would grow up together. At first we thought we shouldn't pursue adoption or try to have another biologically while we still have Carmen. But, now we are wondering how long that might be. I just don't know if I can handle much more right now but I am distraught that Lauren will lose her only sibling. She LOVES Carmen.

Thanks again for asking! We sure would appreciate all of your prayers for Carmen. Mostly that she is comfortable.
