Adoption decree- NEED HELP!
Hi everyone, I really need some help. We are in the middle of our re-adoption (NC) for Maverick and Catalina. I called to check on our status when they told me that they did not have the adoption decree and translation and that they had repeatedly tried to contact our agency w/ no response. Of course, nobody called us. Meanwhile, our agency has closed and is not taking calls/ e-mails. Can you tell me which of these documents is the adoption decree? What does it look like or say? I know the top says Protocolo, but I have two docs that say that. None of our docs were stapled when we got them, so I'm trying to find a needle in a haystack here. Thanks for any help.

I assume you don't have translations?
My best suggestion if you don't have translations (and don't read spanish) is to look at the dates on them. Which you can use an online translation site to figure out. Both of my children's final Protocolo start out 'En la ciudad de Guatemala' and than a date that is soon after exiting PGN. The other Protocolos I have are dated early in our process. They may also want a copy of the PGN decree. The Guat process is kind of confusing to most people as PGN has to give their final approval, but the birthmother still has to sign the fourth and final time - the Protocolo - after PGN. So there isn't a single 'adoption decree' in the way most people think of it. The Protocolo is what does make us the legal parents, but the PGN decree looks more like an adoption decree from most people's standpoint because of the wording on it over the Protocolo. Hope that helps!

It is going to be the one with the later date. In the English translation, probably about paragraph 5, you will probably see the words Decree of Adoption. Not home right now, or I would get you more info.
