Just discovered a couple of things I wanted to share with you guys.
#1. Babys Bliss Gripe Water this stuff is liquid gold! #2. Boppy--luv it The newborn that we are keeping has had a lot of issues with his formula. So after having his formula switched 4 times in 7 weeks (Simalac alimentum now) I decided to try the gripe water. It works wonders!!!! I also tried switching his bottle from a Dr Browns to a Playtex Nurser Drop Ins and he burped better. Seemed less gassy. So after this feeding I swaddled him up tight and propped him in the boppy and he slept for 3hrs without as much as a whimper!!!! (I was in the same room with him and kept an constant eye on him or i would have not put him on the boppy) Just wondering what are the signs of reflux in infants? I wonder if being proped up on the boppy help his tummy too?

My son was born in July & gripe water was great for us too. I think he had minor reflux issues & we propped him up in his boppy for naps & for night time sleep my husband put a rolled up towel under his crib mattress to give it a slight incline. we also invested in the AngelCare monitor & had him sleep on his tummy. This worked wonders! He didn't stay up groaning all night & was much more peaceful. He is 6 months now & has outgrown most of his reflux issues.
Having a newborn is a lot of work! Our daughter came home in March of 2008 at 10 months so we totally have our hands full!! ~D |

I wish I had more time to post!
Of my 4 children, 2 had reflux as infants, and 3 had MSPI (milk-soy protein intolerance). BTDT! If you google "infant reflux" you will find some great information. My 2 refluxers did well on the Zantac, max dosage. Also - if you're using Alimentum, I strongly urge you to stick to the RTF (ready to feed) formula, not the powder. The powder has a high corn syrup content, which we have been told by our pedGI is more difficult for babies to digest. My kids were miserable on the powder, but have done great on the RTF. More expensive, yes...but it does help. Anyway, PM if you have other questions. I'm most certainly not an expert, but have been around the block a time or two with this! (#4 is 10 months and still on Alimentum, but has thankfully outgrown her reflux).
