Bangs or No Bangs?
Katelyn's hair is starting to look a bit CRAZY.
Her bangs are starting to get to the point where I have to decide what to do with them. Do I keep the bangs, or not? I kind of like bangs on her, but worry about having to keep getting them cut. There is no way she will sit still for me, so I would probably have to take her somewhere to get them cut. She's got this baby fine whispy hair on her forehead that is REALLY short, so would no bangs look funny with that? She really doesn't have much of a "hair free" forehead. What's your opinion on the bang situation?

This is a toughie for me! I like M with and without bangs. I have been trying to grow them out... but now I'd really like for her to have them. I'm in the same boat. I guess I would cut her actual hair and see if you like it with bangs.. Luckily, M sits for me to trim her hair.

I like no bangs, although I don't really leave K's hair down. She always has a bow!!! She has those baby wispys and I just deal with them!! Sometimes they get a trim sometimes I let them grow! I'm working on one length b/c it's easier to pull up. Sorry no help!!

I must confess I'm too lazy to let it grow and fight to keep it out of the girls' eyes all the time. Especially considering that when I had to make that decision, the girls were 1 and it was impossible to keep them from taking out each other's hair accessories and trying to eat them! Maybe with one child it would be easier. But bangs are cute! I just took my kids for their first professional cut today and it was actually kinda fun! (Stupid me, I didn't bring my camera.)

i had to laugh at the thought of not having a "hair free" forehead. one day when my dd figures out i'm on here, and she comes and reads what i wrote about her. she will forgive me for discussing her behavior, and never speak to me again after reading what i'm about to write. lol. my dd is 14. she is was also blessed with wispies on her forehead....and basically, just hair everywhere. bangs were a no go.....she wanted to be able to pull her hair back, and so once a week or so, she PLUCKS all the hair off her forehead, so that she can have a bang-free look. i admire her perseverance, but darn it, if i were her, i'd just have bangs. lol. anyway...on little girls, i don't think it is a big deal...i think they are adorable with or without bangs....but let this story just be a glimse into your future.
lol. |

When Madelyn came home, she had bangs. I didn't want to take her to get them cut every 3 or 4 weeks and she will NOT sit still for me to cut them. So, I've been letting them grow out. She lives with her hair pulled up in a "poof." That's what my DH calls it. Here's an example:
Attachment 80008 with bow Attachment 80009 without bow I realize, however, that she has more hair than most girls her age. She's about 2 weeks shy of 2 years old. I, personally, like her better with no bangs right now. I think the poof is cute. Good luck! Dawn

Hi...
I kept Annie's bangs until January of last year ( 2 months before she turned 5). By then I thought she had "outgrown" her bangs and I thought they looked too babyish on her. So...we started to grow them out. Annie has very long ( and beautiful!!!) hair...it goes down her back almost to her butt. Growing them out was painful....she went through a very awkward point where I couldn't do much with them. They are now past her chin ( 10 months later!) and I am just starting to do things with her hair. Looking back...I wish I had just never cut her bangs when she was a baby and let them grow out when she was younger. It might have been easier..... Diane |

I spent the first year with Katie home growing out her bangs, then just had them cut again. I really like her with bangs, just took a little while for me to figure that out.

Gracie has bangs, and I cut them for the wispy hair reason. I usually pull her hair up when we go out so it is not in her face. Sometimes I include the bangs and sometimes I pull them back too. It works now, but I am debating on wether I want to grow them out. She has her new hair coming in and the bangs really do a good job hiding it!
Here are two pictures one with and one without her bangs (She still has bangs I just pulled them into the ponytails) bigsmiledec2008smaller.jpg pumpkinsmaller.jpg

My dd has bangs but her hair doesn't grow that fast so I don't have to have them cut very often. I cut them the last time and, uh, let's just say they were pretty uneven

I second SKL's post. Consider whether you're willing to do the whole clip/barrette thing to keep it out of her face. I'm too lazy and figure the hairpiece will just end up in her mouth anyway (DD is 18 mos.), so it's definitely bangs for us!! Good luck.

I like bangs on little girls - it's definitely easier to keep the hair looking neat on a dialy basis. Yes, it's more trips to the salon, but I think that's easier than convincing your little one to keep her hair accessories in all day.
Carolina's hair is soooo curly that she doesn't have bangs, or ever get a haircut for that matter. She will be three in March and has never had a haircut. When it's wet her hair is past her shoulders, but when it dries it springs back up and doesn't even cover her neck!

Personally I vote no bangs. I have seen some Guatemalan cuties with bangs though that look cute but sometimes I think people get carried away and cut them way to short. Gabbie has curly, crazy, wavy hair so we are letting her bangs grow out. Sometimes they get in her eyes but she is really good at brushing them aside. Good luck. Kate is a doll and will look adorable no matter what you decide!!!

I am trying to grow Sayda's out right now. I think I will be able to do more with her hair with no bangs. Plus, she has such a little face that when she has bangs they seem to take up half of her face (if that makes sense). I may eventually get them cut on an angle and thinned out. I just don't like straight across bangs on her.
