Agency Referrals Again, Please and Thank You!

I see that many, many people have requested agency referrals for Guatemala adoptions, but it's apparent we aren't allowed to discuss specific agencies on this forum...is that correct?

So if any of you kind souls would PM me with good AND bad experiences and recommendations, I would truly appreciate it. Thank you all so much!

Guatemala is currently closed with no word on if or when it will reopen. Some agencies are speculating and making hopeful predictions but no one can give a referral right now. At least not a real and honest one.

Are you looking for referrals for a specific program? Many of us could possibly give you feedback on our agency in terms of OTHER programs but since they don't all service the same countries it may be good to specify where you are considering.

Good luck to you!

I agree with Julie. If you are looking at a country other than Guatemala you should post on their board to find out agency recommendations. Just because an agency has a good/bad Guatemala program, does not mean they have a good/bad program in another country.

No ethical agency would be signing up anyone for a Guatemala program at this time. The program is closed. Regardless of what any agency tells you, there is no one who knows when it will reopen and what the process will be like when it does.

Good Luck to you!

I'll go a step even futher...and say, dont even being any kind of paperwork or anything in hopes of a Guatemalan adoption.

I know a couple of agencies are allowing people to do homestudies and get dossiers together.... Please dont do it!
Paperwork expires!!!

Until there is OFFICAL notice that Guatemala is open again and the USCIS begins to accept I-800a's for Guatemala, no one should begin to do anything for an adoption from Guatemala.

The people you see on this forum who are in process have been in process prior to Jan 1, 2008.
