We have had a similar problem too since dd came home now a year and a half ago.
Our dd goes to sleep just fine. Like a charm. I walk out of the room and voila...5 minutes later she is asleep. Our problem is that she wakes up anywhere from 2 to 10 times every single night seeking reassurance, which we give in the form of walking in and patting her down to sleep. She goes right back, however when she wakes up 10 times a night she is tired in the morning. It got better for a while but then got worse. We have an appt. for a sleep clinic next week. We're at the point that we figure she's now 2 and 1/2 years old and medication may just be better than having her be sleep deprived and have behavioral issues as a result. Best wishes and keep pushing your pediatrician for referrals. After a long time home it isn't normal any more and it's important to get help.

I don't have any advice - Libby was a decent sleeper until a while after she came home. Then, we did the No Cry and it worked beautifully.
Here's some hugs!! I hope things resolve themselves soon for you both!!!
