Dogs!!!

Yesterday while I was at the Social Security office with Naldo (finally got around to getting his S.S. card) UPS delivered a package of Christmas gifts I had ordered. We have a big front porch so I didn't see it when we got home. I let the dogs out and was making lunch for the boys when I noticed the dogs were running around the front yard with what looked like clothing in their mouths. 2 were having a tug-of -war and one was cavorting around with something in his mouth and throwing it in the air and catching it. My first thoughts were one of the kids had left a sweatshirt on the porch or the dogs had gotten into one of the hockey bags. I ran outside and saw the shredded box on the porch. Apparently the dogs decided that someone had sent them a package of clothing for them to play with. 2 sweaters were destroyed and 2 were covered with dog slobber, snow and dirt. I was furious at them. They knew they were bad because they all ran into the house and hid. Would it be tacky to give a gift that had been run through the washing machine? Anyone want some dogs ?

Oh my goodness, boy can I relate to your story.

It depends on how well you know the people, and if they like dogs. Gift for a close friend or relative who likes dogs (or at least understands what they do)? no problem with washing it first and telling them what happened. Someone else? I don't know, you'd have to be the judge.

One of my dogs destroyed a handmade quilt from Guatemala - made with some beautiful fabric - same story - package was on the front porch and she thought it was for her. Arrghhh!

Oh that is funny. I just love my dogs. While reading this Josie (lab/pit mix) took a closed can of cat food of the shelf and carried it to the couch. If it wasn't for my pets I don't think I could keep struggling through this adoption. God they make me laugh.

You know....I noticed UPS left a package of my meds out by my garage door the other day. It sat there all day long because noone was home! They used to make someone sign for it! I called UPS and complained and had them pick it up and send it back. It's ruined because it was supposed to be kept refrigerated (duH!) and it should have been signed for NOT left to be stolen out of my driveway! What's up with UPS anyway? Is it normal for them to leave packages for your doggies to eat?

Speaking of dogs....I have a boxer too! She's such a gem! Once she got into a package of personal feminine items and got the sticky side stuck just under her chin and could NOT get it off! No matter how she swung her head around or how fast she ran....that good old pad just hung right in there! hahahahahaha It was kind of fun to watch her running around the yard trying to get that thing off! You'd think they'd learn wouldn't you? hahahahahahaha

In defense of UPS...unless the sender 'requires' a signature, then UPS and every other delivery company will leave a package at the doorstep as long as it is in a reasonably safe neighborhood.

The UPS deliverer doesn't know what is in your package and whether it's O.K. to leave it on the doorstep. The sender is required to fill out a box asking if they want to 'require' a signature...and if your sender did that and the UPS driver dropped it anyway, then it's his/her fault. If not, it was the fault of the company that sent the package. (can you tell I am married to a 25-year UPSer)

As for dogs...I have two needing a home as well. One of mine got into the garbage and ate all of the leftover ham/turkey from Thanksgiving. It was a lot of not too good meat. He has had diarrhea for 3 days now. I have been up every 30 minutes all night long letting him out. I am so tired I can hardly stand it!!!
