Im just curious. My son is two and a half and he's 35" tall. Pediatrician says he's gonna be a short stature boy which I expected. His birthmother was only 4'11. He's a stocky little fella at 31 pounds. We didnt get any info on his birthfather so we dont know he may have been a short stature man. It doesnt matter to us how tall he is as long as he's healthy. We were just curious about the height of guatemalan children his age.

DD is 2 yrs, 8 mos. and is 35 1/2" tall, weighs 33 lbs.

DS will turn 3 next month, is 36" tall and weighs 28 lbs (he's quite thin, but at least he's on the chart now. When he came home 3 months ago he wasn't even on the chart.)

My son was 37 inches and 32.5 lbs at age 3. My daughter was 34 inches and 27.5 lbs.

At age 5.5 my son is around 42 inches and 38 lbs. At age almost 5 (in Dec.) my daughter is about 38.5 inches and 32 lbs.

J.R. will be 3 1/2 on December 21st. He is currently 38 inches tall and weighs 29 lbs. All his pants NEED to be taken in or have elastic adjustable waistbands.

At 3.5 yrs, DS was 41 inches & 39 lbs (he's all muscle). When he came home, he was in the 5th percentile, hardly making it on the charts. We're often told that he's tall for his age. Like you, we don't know anything about his birth father but assume he must be taller than we expected. As you said, though, as long as they're healthy, it doesn't matter.

At 3.5 our oldest is 41 inches tall and 41.5 pounds. He is a big boy....all height and muscle and we think he will be rather tall when he grows up. Our youngest son, who is 2.5 years old, is much shorter and only in the 25th percentile. He is about 31 inches tall and the doctors are predicting that he will be about 5'7, 5'8. we'll take that....

Our ds was 36" and 26 pounds at his 3-year-old check up two months ago. He is and has always maintained a height and weight below the 5th percentile. He is going to be a little guy.

DD#1 is 3.5 years old....she is 34.5 inches tall and 25 pounds. She is below the 5th% for height and weight, but she is very healthy and growing on her "own curve".....so her Dr isn't concerned.
DD#2 is 2.5 years old and is 33.5 inches tall and 24 pounds.. She is also below the 5th% for her height and weight, but growing a little between each check-up.

Just some input from the mother of an 8th grade son from Guatemala. Last year he measured 5' 2 1/4" at school. This year he is 5' 4 1/2". He is strong and athletic and built pretty buff. He lifts weights and helps on the farm. He came home at 4yrs old, built kind of slim. In 4th and 5th grade, we were a little concerned that he might be getting too heavy. It was hard to know if he was just going to be built more "barrel chested" and stocky, or if he was going to need to watch his weight. He's in sports and stays active, so now his weight is more muscle and not a concern since he doesn't like to sit around, unless he's tired from sports or helping DH. We don't know if he's going to grow taller or not. It would be nice for him, as I think it's sometimes harder for men to be short. But he is self-assured and well liked, so I'm not sure it will bother him. Our other son is shorter for his age, but is maturing right now in 6th grade, so we shall see with him, too. My biggest hope has always been that they end up taller than me, at 5'5". I think it would be nice for a guy to be taller than his mom. We know two Guatemaltecan men who are 6'3", as is DH. But I doubt that's going to happen to our sons.

Isaac was 36" and 30 lbs at his 3 year old check up. He is currently 3.5 years old and 38" and about 31-32lbs. We thought he was "little" but apparently he is pretty average. He is and always has been on about the 20-25 percentile. He played with a little boy the other day that was the same age though...and he made the other boy look like a midget. He was tiiiiiiiny.

DD at is now 2 1/2 and weighs 42 pounds, and is about 39" tall, she has always been up high of the charts, at her two year visit she was in the 95% in both height and weight. Tammy

Both our DDs were 36 inches at 3 yrs old. Their bio mothers were under 5 feet tall. My adult Guatemalan son is about 5'8" and looks all guy as he is build. Anna

DS will be 4 in February and at last measurement in August he was 35 inches tall. His birthmother was 4'6" according to the report we received. I don't expect him to be tall at all. I am hopeful he will be 5'6"

Every child grows and develops differently. My dd who is now 20 years old was always the tallest in her class during her elementary years. She was always the last in line when they made them line up by height and all the boys were taller than her. The doctors always said she would be about 5'8... When she turned 12-13 she stopped growing at 5'3 which is what she is today at 20.

Julian will be 20 months old tomorrow. He is alreday 33 1/2 inches tall. Who's to say how tall he'll be?? When the pediatrician tells me he thinks he'll be about 5'9 I kinda smirk because I think it's just so difficult for doctors to predict height.
