It has been a long time since I've posted--but I'm at the computer with my Guatemalan prince on my lap right now. Generally, our transition has been smooth. We worry that he may have some speech or hearing issues, but it won't be anything we can't deal with. We talk with his FF on the phone once a week--they're such wonderful people, and they miss him so much (and he, them). But it seems to have helped him to realize that they haven't just "disappeared."
Evan and Tony are wonderful...they annoy each other and don't always like to share, but most of the time they are great brothers to each other. My question: do any of you know of any links to information about how Christmas is celebrated in Guatemala? I'd like to incorporate some of those traditions into our holidays. Tony doesn't seem to have any idea who Santa is, so I'm guessing he doesn't figure prominently...but I have read about a Miso del Gallo and parades of holy statues. Any other things you know about? Looking forward to our first Christmas as a family, and hoping that many of you are doing the same. Lisa

I read something about putting something in shoes outside the door (I assume kind of like stockings). We are going to start this tradition - guess I better read up on it!!! If I don't see that someone else mentions it, I will send you the info. Just not sure of the details right now.
Happy Holidays!

Lisa, I was told today that Santa is not very big among the indigneous people. Don't know how true this is. I'm glad you asked because I'll be checking out these sites myself!
