I guess winter is actually here. Our state is getting hit with the first winter storm. It's west of us right now, but heading our way. Looks like it might be a good weekend to stay home and snuggle!!

Blizzard Blasts Western SD

High wind pushed early November snow into huge drifts in portions of western South Dakota today as a blizzard continues an eastern trek.

A National Weather Service observer reported more than three feet of snow just northeast of Deadwood in the Black Hills.

The snow came down at a rate of three inches an hour overnight. And wind gusts of 60 miles an hour are still being reported.

More than 100 schools, offices and businesses were closed in the region. Interstate 90 is closed from Murdo west to the Wyoming state line.

Other portions of Lawrence County reported almost two feet of snow. Spearfish had just over 12 inches of snow and drifts six feet high.

In Shannon County, 20-foot snowdrifts were reported on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation. Power outages have been reported Pine Ridge as well.

The blizzard is moving east, and public safety officials predict treacherous road and weather conditions will hit the central and east.

Wow - I'm not ready to hear that yet! We're experiencing very warm temps in Michigan - it's getting up to the 70's during the day. Guess we'll see snow before too much longer. Stay safe!

It's raining in Chicagoland....but they are saying there's a possibility of snow on Sunday. I didn't listen to how much, after seeing your pictures, I better not assume it's only going to be flurries, LOL!

I knew it was coming! We are in Western Wisconsin and have had the most fabulous 5 days of weather. The temp has been dropping like a rock all afternoon. Time to dig out the hats and mittens. I think all my big kids need boots. You'd think I would be ready by now.

Oh, Man!!!!!!!! I am not ready to see stuff like that. Yes, we are having another beautiful 70 degree day here in MI. Very unusual for this time of year. We've been told though that this is the end of that for about 6-7 months. Sunday it is supposed to be in the 30-40's. How sad.

Stay warm and safe out there in the West...... and don't send it ALL our way, o.k.

Ughh...I KNOW! They mentioned the 4 letter "S" word today for us as well. Looks like we will get some snow tomorrow night. Good thing we are leaving for GT Saturday, just in TIME!
