hmmmm.....well, I've had PLENTY of experience with disgruntled ex employees and I've never had any that would take the time to go through ALL that and then sit down and not only get my email passwords but, proceed to go through my stuff and find out about my family and write an inflammatory email about my family as if I wrote it and then send it around! No. I think she's busted and she surely knows you're not that dumb. Disgruntled ex-employees do stuff like yell at you, call other ex employees and try to get them to call you and say things to you, call current employees and talk about what a BAD boss you are....but, rarely would they go through all that hassle to smear someone's name. That's just too much thinking on their part I'm afraid! Can you lock this person off your blog Janet? I guess that would mean you'd have to go private and give certain people a password to get on? Or heck, sounds like it might be better to just keep on doing what seems to bug her most....writing on your blog about your very happy life with your very beautiful daughter! teeheehee Nothing like sweet revenge!

I'm not sure what I would believe...

but really, even if she DID write that we all have the right to our opinions. It's not "nice" of her to send a snotty email to someone else about it but the best part about this is that IF she did then she totally got busted.

--and it's better that she learned this hard lesson about gossiping from a forgiving cousin than someone else!

-know you were her cousin
-know your blog address
-read your blog
-write an opinion about it that she intended to send to you, but addressed you in the 3rd person
- know that your email address was the one for the cousin with the blog she magically knew about

How would a "hacker" know about your blog? So, she either had to write the email or talk negatively about yoru blog to someone! Either way, she is busted, big time! I wouldnt let it go and i think you are being way more better about this than i would be.

Thanks for all the advice, now I'll have to figure out if I want to "take the higher ground" or howl with the cats (licking my whiskers).

Take it in stride actually sounds like a good idea and I won't be inviting THAT COUSIN to Christmas dinner, LOL.

ROFL! This is EXACTLY what I was thinking! The disgruntled employee must be psychic!!
Take the higher ground. She's gotta know that you know she's full of you-know-what! You can give her a sickly sweet smile at the next family get-together and ask if the email hacking problem has been resolved yet!

did it say something specific about your blog or did it end there? Maybe she put your e-mail in the to: part by accident?

BUSTED ... anytime someone goes into a lengthy discussion about what happened, chances are that is not how it went down. I agree with some of the posters - a disgrunted ex employee who has your password would do far more direct damage to clients etc. and not spend time searching for your cousin's blog info.

She did put in some specifics about the blog.....I agree with you Barbara. If I was an ex-employee, I'd go for clients too. Even if I was an ex-friend-employee, I'd go for closer relatives or friends that we are.

I don't buy it!!!!! That's just me though. If someone hacked into my computer and sent out vicious e-mails, I would immediately be contacting the person the e-mail was sent to and tell them what happened. I wouldn't wait until the hurt person contacted me to then tell them what happened. Just doesn't make sense. I tend to look at moments like these as seeing what someones "true feelings" really are. I wouldn't necessarily end a friendship with the person, but I would look at them differently. Just my two cents!

I don't know what she said your "big long blather" was about, but I visited your blog and it's beautiful, and so is your family. I think people are just jealous sometimes when others are happy. I don't buy her explanation, but if she's going to be so mean, she doesn't have to visit your blog.

As someone who deals occasionally with neglected children on a professional basis, I am so happy when people enjoy their children and are happy. I think your blog is very nice to read!
