Red face OT: Time change.. help!

Are any of you having trouble with your kiddos adjusting to the time change? DS keeps waking up at 5:00-5:30 and he is SO cranky all day! I don't know what to do. Should I put him to bed earlier since he gets up at the same time no matter when I put him to bed? Or should I keep putting him to bed at his regular bedtime ( around 8:00 ) in hopes the he adjusts to the new time change? He is not the same happy child he was before the time change and I am not the same happy mommy either. He used to get up around 6:00- 6:30. Please tell me there is hope and he will adjust!

I can't beat that! My daughter has been waking up between 4:30-5:00. Fortunately this morning she woke up at 5:30 so I am hoping she will eventually sleep her normal 5:45-6:15. We both work full time and normally get up at 5:50 so 5:30 is manageable but 4:30 soooo isn't!

So, my answer to your question is yes my daughter's sleep schedule is messed up. We are not happy with the people that invented the time change right now. We are sticking with our regular bedtime of 7:30-7:40 right now in hopes that she will eventually adjust. We have been through several time changes with her and they never messed up her sleep like this!!!

DS is 2 1/2 and I have kept his bedtime to 730-745pm because once it gets dark we both start feeling tired. This morning he woke up at 445am ... I AM a morning person but this is just a tad on the early side. Not sure what to do - I just went in picked him up and brought him into my room. He asked for milk, I told him -hush now, it's still nighttime, I'll get you milk in the morning. Thankfully he went back to sleep for another 30 minutes.

Our DS is getting up an hour earlier, but I am keeping bedtime the same. My stepdaughter used to do the same thing. I refused to change much and she would adjust in about 1 week. Hard week for us, but she would get back on track. I ASSUME DS will do the same.
Good luck!!!!!!!!

I have moved bedtime back...no biggie for me. Yes the kiddos are getting up an hour earlier but to them it's not an hour earlier KWIM, so me moving their bedtime back is no big deal. My son kinda stays with this pattern actually. We get up early in the winter and he sleeps later in the summer. I'm sure my kids will level out some, but I for one am happy to put them to bed a little earlier and get some more quality time with DH.

right now my kids are going to bed early and getting up early...it is tough in the morning, but i LOVE a little more time in the evening to myself. lol. in my experience, it kind of evens back out over the next few weeks and they go back to their original bed time, and original wake up time.

Yeah, for now, I've pushed back bedtime a little until I figure she'll adjust and get up later. That early wake-up call was just too much for me. We'll see what happens tomorrow after going to bed early tonight.

Mine are slowly adjusting. I have had FD for 4 months but her brother just got here two weeks ago( 1 yr old). By the end of his first week I had them both sleeping on the same nap/night time schedule. The time change messed all of that up! They are slowly getting back on the right schedule, but the first day they were up at 6:30 instead of 7:30 and napping at different times. Tonight they got to bed at 8:06 instead of 8:30. I'm hoping they sleep till 7:30. I just try to move to the new time as fast as possible by shifting their bath time, eating time , etc, to try to reset their internal clocks.

Same thing at our house. DS is waking up at 6:00am (an hour earlier) and going to bed about a half hour earlier. I've tried to get him to stay up later, but he wants to go to bed.

I am hoping we just get back on the old schedule too. Whoever came up with this time change thing, must not have had kids...

Good luck to all of us.....

Well, that was a smashing success - NOT. She woke up at 5:30 instead of her normal 7:30. Wonderful.

My daughter was up at 4:45 so I feel your pain. After being up late watching election coverage I am a zombie at work.

Well, DS woke up at 6am this morning instead of 5am so there is hope. Hopefully tomorrow we will have the same luck. I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying this. Thanks for all your responses. It's good to know that I'm not alone. Hopefully all of our kids will all adjust SOON!!!

I totally understand what you're going through. My boys are finally adjusting, but my daughter is still fighting it. She's been waking about 5:45 and wants to sleep through lunch. As soon as she sees it's getting dark, as dinner ends, she asks for her jamies. I hope she figures it out soon. Last time I think it took about a week.
