OT: what are you doing today OTHER than voting.

where we live, kids are out of school on election day. if someone knows why, please fill me in, because it is VERY inconvenient. lol. now that i've voted, we are going to krispy kreme for my free election day donut, and donuts for the rest of the crew...and then we will probably get back in our jammies and watch a movie. cozy what will you do with the rest of your day? any election day goodies where you live? (i know in some states this is illegal...hi california ) do you have to go back to work? have the day off?

In SC (or at least the area I use to live) the students are off on presidential elections days only because schools are polling places and there is too much traffic in the schools and the saftey factor as well.

In Florida I am not sure if students are off here. We have already voted at early voting which I LOVE. We did not have that in SC (other than absentee ballots.)

Today we are just hanging out, playing outside, waiting for the election results.

Happy Voting!

The district I work in is off because the schools are polling places and like Melissa said, it's safety and inconvenience (think this...sex offenders can vote). My kids' sd is not a polling place so they are not off. So I have the day with just Addie and I!

I am at work and I should be WORKING but instead I am on the forums. HEE HEE HEE!!! Our school is doing "I vote for reading" Election today. Several books were selected and they have been read to the children over the past several weeks and today they vote on their favorite book. Elaina is voting for "Strega Nona" it is so cute the way she says it. The grade school children are voting for their favorite lunch items today and the winning choices will be served on innaugaration day. Fun ideas to get children voting!!! Have a great day and don't forget to VOTE!!!!!

I'm working, (well...not right now) DH has the day off (he works for the state - and he's going to see a movie - NOT FAIR!) and the schools are closed.

Then we are off to the big state rally to watch election returns. DH's job depends on the outcome of some of the elections, so I hate election day.

Regular day but long lines at the voting booth. DS in daycare, schools (and the polling stations therein) are open. We get free coffee from Starbucks, free cone from Ben and Jerry's and a donut from Krispy Kreme but none are walkable from work so I'll just eat lunch at my desk. I loved reading Strega Nona to my niece and nephew = fun book.

Just voted here in NJ. Not one person in line. Just me. Kids are in school and Antonio is the last of the 6 of us to get sick. So we are hanging out cleaning dirty noses and pray he naps.

It's noon here now and I am taking the rest of the day off. I'm going to go do some Get Out The Vote calling from the election headquarters for my State. Then I'm going to pick Maria up early from daycare so she can go vote with me. We'll be going to the Party celebration tonight. The girls have their T-Shirts ready to go and their red, white and blue bows!! It's so much fun to be at the party when the results start to come in. I'm afraid we won't make it to the announcement of a winner in the Presidential race as I think it may be a long night!

I'm at work (UGH - would rather be watching the news) and the girls are at school. Schools aren't closed for election day here. Medina was super excited to go to school today as they were having a presidential election at her school too.

No school here either because as mentioned above the schools are the polling locations and for security it is better to make it a teacher work day.

A few of us Michigan Guat moms got together for a fun morning/lunch. It is a gorgeous, sunny day here so now I really should get out and rake leaves while the weather is good. I really don't want to though!

I am sitting at work hoping that the lines are not too long tonight. We tried to go first thing this am and the line was out the door and around the building! So I will "work" until 4, pick John up at daycare and get to the voting place at 6. I have some small toys and snacks for him.

I teach and my district did not have school today and I did not have to report to work either! DH is a SAHD so we went to the zoo. It was gorgeous today (71 degrees and sunny) which is NOT normal for NE Ohio.
