Talking Just For Fun: What's the Worst/Craziest Present You Have Ever Received?

Hello everyone,

I saw this on another board and thought it would be fun to play, especially with the holidays coming up!

What is the worst / craziest present you have ever received?

One year for Christmas, my grandparents bought matching outfits for me, my mom and my SIL. No...I was not 5 years old....I was 25! And that's not the worst part. The outfits were bright coral colored capri pants with matching vests!! I opened my present first and tried to put on a smile, pretending that I liked it! Then my SIL opened hers and when she saw the same outfit, the look on her face was priceless. By the time it was my mom's turn, we both looked at her and said "I bet we know what you are getting!" Needless to say, we never wore our matching outfits! Although, it would have made for an interesting familiy photo!

So, what have you received?

Janel

This should be fun!!

My mom's youngest brother isn't the most stable thing in the whole world. He called my mom just before my wedding saying that he came up with the BEST present for us. My mom was a little worried. He had a friend who made "cartoons" - his own, made up, cartoon things. My uncle got us a "set" of coffee mugs with these cartoons on them. They were spoofs of Star Wars. They were hideous!!! I was the first grandchild to get married, so I decided that these lovely mugs were going to make their way around the cousins. So, I wrapped them up with no tag when my cousin got married. Priceless!!

I only wish I had pictures of them.

Before we were married my husband got me a case of oil for my car and some ramps so that I could learn to change the oil myself. Are you kidding me!! Yeah that never happened. It's a good thing he had many other redeeming qualities, because gift giving isn't one of them!!

my first christmas with DH he stuffed my stocking. on xmas morning i pulled out a pair of ski socks. very nice but they were men's socks. he smiled and told me they didn't have my size when he bought them.

i'm thinking...you bought them for yourself?

LOL. the second i looked up at him with raised eyebrows he blanched and was so embarrassed.

One year for Christmas my DH gave me a night shirt that had a huge snowman on the front of it... it also came with a stocking cap that looked like a tophat and knee socks that looked like high black boots..... I was dead sexy in it!!!!

This one is actually painful but true...

Shortly after my mom died I helped my dad clean out his house but I few things were too painful for me to dispose of (like gifts I had given my mother).

Then about a year after my mom died the woman he was dating & he gave me a wrapped present -- which turned out to be a gift I gave my mother previously (a beatiful dated snow globe) and deliberately left because it was too painful to deal with.....the woman went on to gush about how wonderful this was & how she & my dad found it in the house.

LOL to the post!!! Especially the one where her dh bought her OIL-LOL LOL -Maybe he was trying to bond

The worst gift that I ever got was for my wedding, it was a dollar store card board photo frame from my extremely wealthy sister(maybe that is why she is wealthy-she hoards her money-LOL) . The frame looked like it was used.

I think the worst present some bought me were candles... I don't even like candles because once my bathroom towel caught on fire.

For my wedding shower I rec'd this lennox bowl from my DH's aunt.. I know it doesnt sound crazy but theres more.. my friend had a larger version of the ugly bowl as I called it, so I told him that he could have the small one to match.. When I brought him the bowl, attached to the inside of the box was the card that one cousin gave another cousin for their bridal shower UNREAL!!! If you are going to regift at least make sure theirs no evidence

great post

Well, let's see.....I think I'm from a family of "re-gifters" so, I've had LOTS of funny gifts! Once my aunt and uncle gave me a set of candles with a very nice gold candle holder.....it had drips of melted wax all over it as if it had been used already and one of the candles actually had a burnt wick and it had be re-wrapped in the clear wrap!!!!! Can you say C-H-E-A-P? Another time another aunt (yes, same side of family) gave me a clay pot with a lid. The lid was chipped and when she saw it she just went overboard saying she just couldn't IMAGINE how that happened (me think thou dost protest too much!)! Um, maybe because it sat in your home for 5 years before you decided it would look better in mine? I mean I've BEEN in her home many times and I've SEEN it there! Jeeeeez! If you can't think of something to give, don't just go through your home and pick something up and wrap it!

Oh I've got a good one! My ex-boyfriend's mother gave me underwear for Christmas. I opened it in front of his entire family. I was in my early 20s and unable to graciously respond. It was awful. A million years later and I still think it was an inappropriate gift!
