? about readoption - translating documents?

We are doing readoption through an attorney. We have a court date November 20th (YAY! ).
The attorney's office just called and said we might have to get about 20 pages translated... she said she will try to find out if it needs to be exact translation or just a summary of "what this is about - termination of parental right of the birthmom etc.". What did you do?

Thanks!

The paperwork you received at pickup didn't have translations with it?

Our paper work had a translation after every page. I hope that yours does.

Definetly have them check. Everything in spanish has to be translated for the Embassy before you are submitted for Orange/Pink. So your attorney really should have given you the translations too. (Though he/she wouldn't be the first one not to have bothered.)

Good luck!

the documents in the G-884 packet all have the Spanish originals and the offically translated English versions. Perhaps delaying the readoption until you recieve them is an option so you don't pay to have the documents translated again when there is alreadya translated version in the US.

Love to you,

so apparently we DON'T have the English translations
One would think that with all the money and time they take to do all this, they would not FORGET something like that.
At this point we want to get the readoption done now and G-884 after tat, so I guess we will have to shell out more.... I am sooo looking forward to have all this paperworking stop.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

If you ask me, I would think that when your attorney took the case for the Re-Adoption, you gave him all the paper work. He had to look through it and accepted your case. Along with that I am sure he said how much he would charge....

I think it is the Attorneys job to get the information translated, since he don't have them.

THere are several Translating Services out there, that do it, but why should you be dealing with this... Tell him to do his job~

It has to be done by certified translators. Neither of my attorneys spoke or read any english. (Though looking at the translations on some of my documents, I question whether the translators did either!)

I agree with AngelQT. It is a bunch of baloney that your Guat attorney didn't give you the translations, and also that your current attorney is dropping this on you now.
I am so sorry you are having to deal with this.
