Emotional...They cut her hair!
I am just all emotional today. Yesterday Kate turned 17 months old and she is STILL not home. We have been out of PGN since 8/18 and don't have a BC yet. This morning I open my email and there are new pictures of Kate. Normally, this is a great day. They cut her hair! Just another "first" I am missing. When we were in GT last month I told Kevin we should take her to the salon at the Westin and get her hair cut. She didn't feel well during our visit, so we decided not to. Her bangs really needed to be cut and she sorta had a mullet going on. But it was our mullet!
 I know all this is crazy talk and I am not being rational. She really did need a haircut. It just makes me want to cry. Thanks for letting me whine about another missed milestone. Here's a picture of Kate and her new "do". She still is incredibly cute though!I do love our foster family, and I'm sure the super long bangs were bothering the heck outta them!

I know it's an emotional time, and irrational thoughts can sometimes get the best of you. But please know Kates coming home soon and if Kates hair grows anything like Owen's, you'll be at the salon before you know it. You have many first's to look forward to. Can't wait to see her new do! I imagine her foster Mom just wanted Kate to look her best for you...Kate's Mommy and Daddy.

This was important to me too and not cutting the hair was one of three things I asked of the foster families. It did help me when some one pointed out that your baby will have all those first still when they are home with you. First haircut when home. First birthday when home, etc. Most likely the foster family cut her hair because she will be going home soon. Yeahhh!!!! In the adoption of our micronesian DD her bio family shaved her hair minutes before I got to meet her. She was suffering with head lice and they did not want to give her to me like that. Her bio mom and I still chuckle about that now. I agree your baby's hair cut is very cute. Looking to hear more from you soon. Hugs, Anna

Oh Kim,, I know exactly how you feel!! I received pictures of Maddy with an extreme haircut and I cried too. But don't worry, it will grow back and you have lots of haircuts and fights over hairstyles to come
She is beautiful!!

I know how you feel! Eddie has beautiful curls and I got an update picture where his head had practically been shaved-you could see his scalp. It broke my heart! Fortunately most of our Guat tots have great hair so you have lots of haircuts in your future. I have to take my boys every 2 months. She is still super cute! Mary mom to Bobby 11, Bridget 10, Angela 8, Eddie 3 (home from Guatemala in 2005) and Naldo 16 months (home since Feb.)

I know exactly how you feel! Carmen's foster mom cut her hair between our visit trip and pick-up trip and I was so sad! Yes, she needed a haircut but I kind of liked her wild look!
Your daughter will be home very soon and then all this sadness will fly right out the door!

I understand that you feel emotional about this right now. You know that when Kate gets home (soon) and you take her for a first haircut at home, it will be very special for you both. But for now, go ahead and be emotional. She does look adorable, of course!
