Question Does your toddler eat at the same time as you?

We feed DD at 5PM when we get home from work - then DH cooks our food later and we eat around 7 PM and DD eats her snack around then. I was wondering if your family eats in shifts or all together?

DH works 3 blocks away from home so we eat lunch at noon and supper at 5:30 time with FD who is 2.5. DD, who is 11 has supper with us at 5:30. Sat and Sun are breakfast together too. Can you tell I came from a family that ate meals together all the time? I'm a Louisiana native and food has a great impact on sense of family.

We eat out with dd regularly, but meals at home are very rarely eaten with dd. She has breakfast as soon as she gets up. Dh and I don't really do breakfast. She eats lunch when she wakes from her nap. I usually eat lunch while she naps and dinner is 5:30ish before she goes to bed between 6:30 & 7pm. Dh and I share a late dinner together just the two of us almost every night.

M and I eat breakfast & lunch together. Dinner is almost usually the three of us together... however, if DH is going to be too late, I'll cook M dinner and eat later with DH.

DS is hungry the minute he wakes up, and eats some breakfast then (about 7:00). He eats more breakfast at daycare if he wants it. Lunch is at daycare. He eats dinner between 5:00-5:30. Sometimes I eat a little bit with him. DH gets home around 6:00, but he and I don't usually do much for dinner. If I do cook, DS sits at the table with us and usually noshes a little. None of this is the way I imagined it would be, but it's how it worked out.

weekdays:

julian eats breakfast with his dad.
lunch with the nanny and her kid, or at daycare, all together.
he has dinner at 6 or 6:30 with his dad, and me too if i'm home from work yet.

weekends:

julian eats breakfast when he gets up, then again after i cook when i get up.
lunch alone or together if we're hungry too.
and dinner together.

we plan on family dinners on a regular basis as he gets older. i grew up eating dinner with the brady bunch or the partridge family if you get my drift.

Sabrina usually only eats with us when we go out. I sit at the table with her while she eats or work around the kitchen while she eats but she usually eats her dinner and then while my husband puts her to bed I cook our dinner. When she is older we will have family meals but for now it is just easier this way most of the time.

Yes and no.

I eat with my kids when they have breakfast and dinner, and lunch too if I'm around (I'm usually upstairs working on weekdays, so they are fed lunch by the nanny). But I also eat without the kids, usually when they are not looking. I have a longer day than they do and need a bit more nutrition.

We always eat all meals together unless one of us is away from home, like my adult daughters who are at college several days of the week. Normally there are 10 to 11 out of the thirteen here for atleast lunch and dinner and 8 to 10 for breakfast. I already go crazy with just the three meals together. Can't think of how it would be if they all ate at a different time. Anna

Bug eats breakfest and dinner with me every day (single parent). Lunch during the week is at daycare and with me on the weekends.
We may not eat the same thing- like at breakfest, but we are sitting at the table together.

Love to you,
Deb

We really try to eat dinner together. Breakfast is ususally on our own. Monday-Wednesday Alex eats lunch at daycare. On Thursdays and Fridays Alex and I usually eat lunch together. We try to eat dinner together every day. It doesn't always work, but that is what we strive for. We do eat dinner at about 6:00 as that is usually as long as Alex can go without food.

On the days I work, I eat breakfast before the girls are up. The other days we eat together. (DH is already gone to work). I always eat dinner with the girls (around 6) and most times DH is with us (unless traffic is bad or he is out of town)

Good luck!

Breakfast - never

Lunch - only on the weekends

Dinner - Always (unless DH is working late)

Our kids are usually hungry around 5pm so I give them a light snack to hold them over until dinner.

Red face

We always eat dinner together. I have "last call for snack" at 3:30 and then we eat around 5:30 or 6:00.

We always eat dinner together, tv has to be turned off and it's our time to give our full attention to whatever the kids want to talk about. My 22 year old is taking some evening classes so 2 nights a week he leaves before dinner time but otherwise we are all together.

If the kids get hungry before dinner I give them a small snack to hold them over.
