Wink My son made toast...share some of your child's skills

Carlos will be the child you read about who called and ordered a pizza and then drove the car, parallel parked, paid with correct change and gave an appropriate tip at age 3.

I was sick in bed on Sunday and Daddy was helping dd with something so Carlos decided to fix his own toast. We keep our toaster in the cabinet and our bread in the bread box so can you understand why this shocks me? He even knew how to plug it in He only has to see us do something once and he has it down pat. I thought I had done all the child proof things, I have done the whole kid thing before but this one comes up with new stuff every day. Pray for us cuz he is gonna need about 3 or 4 guardian angels.

Tish, I feel you girly!! My little Olivia turned two the last day of July and she has let herself out of our house on several occassions!! So I thought by locking the storm door at all times she would be safe...WRONG!! She watched me unlock it for company one day and now she can do that too!! Sheeshh!

She also digs in the fridge, gets her bottle, and the gallon of milk and brings it to me and not so long ago I found her standing on top the cabinet getting herself a cup! When asked what she was doing she pointed to the jucie she took out of the fridge and said juice!!

I can hardly believe the things she can do so young because I never remember my son doing anything like that!!

My parents' kids were scary like that, so I am not in any hurry to encourage mine! My little sis at age 13 months got up early one morning, climbed out of her crib, made herself a few bowls of cereal (with milk), pulled on a couple extra layers of jammies, pulled opened the front door, and went town the street to "go fo walk." No thanks! My grandma reported that when my dad was 2.5, she woke to find him frying eggs!

My kids are too short to turn our doorknobs, so I think we are safe for the moment. They do like to observe and mimic, though, and they surprise me at times with how they can follow a series of detailed steps that they learned only from watching on the sly. Little stinkers!

Tish,
My little 28 month old vacuums the floor. We have a lot of hard wood, and for small jobs we have a battery operated sweeper. When I am vacuuming with the BIG sweeper, he runs and to get this one and turns it on and away he goes. If I want to use it, he gets mad. Too cute.

I love that I have such a great little helper.

Carlos is very resourceful, good job. Hope you are feeling better.

I swear, kids are smarter than we give them credit for. My 3-year-old will look on the kids menu and order for herself when we go out to eat and she even says please, may I, and thank you. We fly pretty frequently and I kid you not that more often than not, she is the one that spots our bags on the carousel before we do. She can even put a straw in a Capri Sun, something I still have a hard time doing. Just those little random things that leave you thinking, wow.

WOW, resourceful Carlos!

DD is 3 and decided about 2 months ago that she no longer needed my help to get ready in the morning. To the point that I am not even allowed on the 2nd level of the house while she gets ready. Tee hee.

Needless to say I do sneak up there later when she is not home to make sure everything is ok. Only to find that she folded her towel, brushed her teeth, put her dirty clothes in the laundry basket and made her bed. All those little things I normally do. This morning she tried to polish her teeth like the dentist told her with the chocolate polish he gave her and came downstairs to tell me she made a little bit of a mess but cleaned it up. LOL!

She normally even matches ok. At first she would take the prepared clothes on the rack in the closet but the last couple of weeks she has gone to the drawers to match herself!

yep, he can open all the doors in the house, has made his own bottle when he was younger knows how to run the tv and can actually put the keys in the ignition and trys to put the car in gear I am just glad he can't reach the brakes. Sweeps with the swiffer and will even plug it back in to charge. Just a minute ago he said excuse you to me when I burped....I was just going to say it, but did not get it out quick enough..I swear. My daughter was smart, but more in the verbal/reading way. He is more the how does this work smart and very very quick. Don't they just kill ya?

My 4 yr. olds can get the computer program "SKYPE" (video phone) open and call their older sisters.... They do it all the time! My big girls love this but #2 is at school and is 2hrs. ahead of us in time.... so the little girls have called her as they are going to bed and have woken her up.....

I want them to hang out with little Carlos and learn how to make their own breakfast!!!!

That reminds me. A couple of weeks ago I was putting together the new minitramp I bought the girls (warning: the bungee thing will kill your hands.) Anyhoo, after the girls started picking up the parts and walking off with them, I told them to back off and play with their toys. So while I was working on screwing some parts together, my 20mo sized up the situation, picked up some pieces, unwrapped them from the plastic, and fit them exactly where they were supposed to go on the contraption.

Isaac is 3 and he sorts laundry and recycling, takes his money to the bank (we drive him and walk him in LOL), scoops dog poop at his grandma's house, and knows the directions to get to all of our usual (2 or more times a year!) places and SCREAMS at us if we turn the wrong way. He can also open bandaids and put them on himself.

Camille is an expert laundry folder. She is especially good at bibs, socks, washcloths, and towels, but she also can fold a shirt neater than my 9 year-old can!
She always opens the closet, and puts her shoes away and puts them on by herself, too. She usually puts away her brother's, too, as they become invisible to him when they hit the floor!

Cindy
p.s. Can Carlos come over and make me some toast? I'm hungry.....And maybe some eggs, too.....

DD is almost 2 and a ahalf, and for some time she has managed to open both our inside door and storm doors and both of them have locks. When we went out to eat the other day with my mom we went to chinese and the lady said what would you like to drink, DD said hmmmm coke please, lol we all started to laugh. She ended up with juice. When the lady came back and said would you like a refill? I said no thanks and DD said yes please, they are so much smarter then we all believe. Also on trips to McDonnalds when I ask my DS what he wants, DD said fries and coke, lol so cute. Tammy
