OT: Kansas City

Hi everyone,
Anyone from KC out there? My DH and I are going there for a concert in October (and our 12th anniversary). We'll arrive Friday afternoon, check into our hotel, eat dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (because we ate there on our 1st anniversary!). The concert is Saturday night.

Wondering if you all have any suggestions for what to do on Saturday. Should we just hang out around the plaza area?
What about hotels? Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Michele

Hi,
We are here in KC....
You could just hang out at the plaza during the day, although there really isn't all that much there except shops/restaurants. There is an art Gallery right by the plaza that is nice. If the weather is nice there is a large park called Loose Park close to the plaza as well.....it's a really nice place to just relax and enjoy a fall day. The leaves should be changing then, so it is really pretty.
If your concert is at the Sprint Center there is a new area called the {Power and Light district) right by the arena...basically just expensive bars and restaurants, but people enjoy going there.
My family likes to go down to the Farmers Market in Downtown on Sat mornings....it is just a fun place to see people and enjoy being outside.
Hope you guys enjoy your visit and your concert. What concert is it?

KC girl here!!

I highly (HIGHLY) recommend a B&B (they call themselves an "urban inn") just off of the Plaza called Southmoreland on the Plaza. It has won so many awards and it is soooo nice. I really think you would like it! We are going to stay there and we LIVE in KC. LOL (Now that I think of it, I'll bet they would have TONS of great ideas - they know the area very well.)

As far as what to do...hmmm...I am so geared toward kid friendly things, I don't know if I know what adults do anymore.

If I was in your shoes, I would book some spa treatments, eat bon bons and relax!!

I'll keep thinking though...and Happy Anniversary!!

We are going to see Jars of Clay/Switchfoot/Third Day. A group from our church is going together and we decided to go a day early. I'm really looking forward to it.

We live in Independence, a suburb of KC. I have a friend at work that runs a B&B. It is on the edge of Independence and Blue Springs. It is in the country and they have made it look like a vinyard. It is called the Albonee' (you can look it up online). Independence also has a lot of historical places to visit during the day.
Hope you enjoy the concert--would love to go.

Also in KC here! I second the Power and Light District!! Is that concert at Starlight? The Plaza is alot of fun, but like Jules...I seem to have forgotten what adults do in KC!!!
Have a wonderful anniversary!
