Teeth issues anybody else

When we brought our son home in may at 15 months it didn't take a dentist to tell me he has dental problems just a quick peak in the mouth told a story. Anyhow he has been home 4 months and needs tubes so we are going to be getting dental done too. I was shocked at what the known problems are (before any x-rays) it looks like he will need about 6 crowns all up front the dentist could'nt even get to the back b/c of the screaming. His dentist is really nice and actually does mission work to guatemala so that gives me comfort for some reason.

Here is the kicker his work has to be done in the hospital while he is asleep. He is 19months old and has asthma so there is no other choice we are going to piggy back it with the tubes (6 infections since coming home). Anyhow insurance won't cover the hospital so we will have to pay the cost of the operating room/anthesologist and who know what else.

anybody else have this issue. His problems were caused by poor nutrition and medicine he took while his teeth were developing.

We have had the terrible teeth problem as well. By the time she was 5 Bella had had 11 cavities and 4 crowns. She goes back to the dentist in about 2 weeks and I am dreading it, every time she goes there are more issues.

We were lucky enough that she didn't have to be asleep so we didn't have the insurance issues...that really stinks! But I did have to change my dental insurance to a DMO so that I didn't pay thousands of dollars in dental bills each year for her!

My son came home at 20 months old with very discolored teeth so we went to the pediatric dentist right away and he has no enamel on his teeth. Most likely from poor prenatal nutrition or some kind of medication taken by his birth mother.

He had two crowns put on right away but they were done in the dentist office with just a little gas. Somehow we have been very, very luckly and in the 3.5 years he has been home, he has had no more cavities. He is now five so getting close to the age of permanant teeth coming in, and we just pray that they will have enamel.

So, not so much advice, but a positive story that if you can get past the initial work, he may do ok.

Good luck!!

Wow

ARe DD just had 10 cvities taken care of. The pedi dentist gave her verset (?) an preanesthetic med. She was awake but dopey and did great. The dentist said she also could have have the gas if needed and novacaine but she did not need these. Good luck on everthing.
