escort question, and a few others

Hello everyone,
I am posting this for a lady that I know that is in the process right now. We had met many months ago and unfortunatly she is going through the process very blind, and her agency gives her no information, no updates, nothing. This lady has even questioned if the child would actually ever come home. So many things this lady says makes me believe that maybe the agency may be fraudelent with this adoption, but I am hoping not. So the agency finally called her after months of no communication to tell her that her daughter is out of PGN, and to pay her lawyer the final payment. She does not know if they have a new BC yet, or if anything has even been done, it's about a month since being out of PGN. Pretty much I am assuming that the agency will call her with her embassy date and that's all. Well my question is, this lady wants to have an escort for her daughter, what is the process for an escort, what does she have to do to get this complete? If anyone has PGN's number so we can check if she is truely out of PGN and does anyone have a phone number to the embassy? Any help would be great, I feel really bad for this lady and my hands are kind of tied with how much I can help her out (long story, sorry too long too share) so please let me know if anyone has any insight on this.

Thanks,
Magen
My family!

What I have seen is that the escort will add another 2 months to the process and she needs to notify her agency immediatly about that. This does nto include the extra fees involved.

I do not know the entier process.

What a sad situation!

My understanding is that because papers are processed through the local USCIS office, how long an escort situation adds to the process varies depending on the efficiency of that office. But, it adding 1-2 months would not be an unreasonable expectation if she has a slow local office and unhelpful agency. She definetly needs to contact the agency ASAP about this.

The contact info. I have for the Embassy is:

Consulate side -
phone 502 2326 4000 (ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit)
they take calls 2-3:15 Tues, Wed, and Thurs.
email adoptguatemala@state.gov

Homeland Security side
guatemala.adoptions@dhs.gov
I have never found a phone number for this side

I don't have the number for PGN on hand but if no one comes up with it for you, let me know and I'll hunt it up.

Would you mind PMing me the name of the agency?

edited to add: She might find this link helpful Intercountry Adoption Guatemala

The additional time for our escort was exactly one week. I think this was due to, not only our local office being quick, but also our agency was fully aware of our decision to escort in advance and had everything and everyone ready so we weren't paper chasing and running around crazy when we got pink.

My point being her agency doesn't seem very helpful, so they could add considerable time on top of the local office processing time.
