Orange Question
Are you orange once the 2nd DNA is done, or is it when the atty puts in the request for the DNA authorization? Not quite there yet, but just want to make sure I know the exact lingo! Thanks.

agreed. My understanding/memory is that the DNA authorization issued by the embassy (which is after your attny submits your BC & dossier and PGN stuff all translated) comes on orange paper and thus "getting orange" much like the embassy appt used to be on pink paper.
dates of interest for most of us are then Orange (DNA2 authorized to happen), when DNA2 acutally DOES get done, when it gets to the lab, when it leaves, when it gets to the embassy, when it translates into an actual appointment (PINK). Luckily most of those are within 5-7 days of each other (actually, most are within 2-3 days except for the time at the lab) so it's a lot of little parties every few days! Stock up on celebration foods! ETA: also, a lot of people get really excited when they see the charge on their credit card. That means the Orange slip was issued and faxed to the agency who then faxed it along with your "go ahead and charge my card" statement they have on file (hopefully!) to the lab who billed your card. The lab then faxes the reciept back to your attorney (often through your agency), and he or she needs that reciept to go get the test done. So a charge does not mean it's done, but that it's just a matter of getting them in to the doctor. For us, the credit card didn't show the charge for almost a week after the billing, and by then we'd heard from the lab that the sample was already there, but if you have a fast update on your account you might see that as your signal that you're orange slip is in hand and the attorney can and should be working to set up the DNA2 as soon as possible. Here's what happens:
The attorney receives the Orange slip of paper from the US Embassy that is the DNA Authorization form. It states on the form the childs given name and adopted name. It also states that the same lab that was used for the first DNA must be used for the second DNA. That Orange sheet along with a sheet that that gives the credit card number and where to fax back the paid receipt is faxed to labcorp. Labcorp receives the fax and runs the credit card. The Orange sheet is stamped "PAID" and faxed back to the number given. In my case I received the fax, then scanned in the paid receipt and emailed to my attorney. She can then take the paid receipt to the US Embassy to get the sample taken. Once you notice that the credit card has been charged your attorney should already have the paid receipt and could possibly even have the sample taken as the appointments for 2nd DNA are very quick. Usually the next day or second day after the paid receipt is issued. |
