OT: (but need quick reply) how to videoconference?

I have a quick question.....

If I want to have a videoconference with someone do we both need to be using the SAME software/network? For example, do we both need to be using Skype or Yahoo Instant Messaging? Or is it like email and I can send my video to the other person regardless of what software/network they're using?

I'm trying to arrange a videoconference job interview, so any info is appreciated and the sooner the better!

Thanks.

I don't know if you HAVE to have the same software but when we video call with my parents, we have the same one. It was easy for us both to download (and free) so maybe you could download what the other person has while you are waiting for a more tech savy person to answer. Good luck.

You can do it on yahoo messenger or windows live messenger. I do it on both. Each party DOES need to be using the same messenger. Both of the two that I named above are FREE and download in 10 minutes or less. It works great!! Hope that helps.

We've used Windows Live Messenger and Skype and we really prefer Skype. The frame rate is better (smoother video) and the sound is better.

Good luck!
