OT: Is it possible to get rid of bad luck????

I feel so sorry for my husband (well and me at times b/c it affects me) but he has the worst Karma/luck for the past year. Anything that can happen does!

All of this will happen at any given time:

-Has had 3 jobs in less than 1 year due to company lay off or company going downhill as soon as he starts. Has had to take large pay cuts.

-Every corner of his car has been hit by something more than once.

-He is constantly sick with SOMETHING-no lie

-Has broken every toe, finger etc all the time. He will graze by a corner and bam..toe broken.

-He started to get depressed and tried to go to therapy and every kind of Dr. he tries to go to isn't covered b/c his new companies insurance sucks.

-Steps in poop, ant hills, etc on a day to day basis.

-His hair is all of a sudden starting to fall out.

-When something good is about to happen and we think it's 100%-bam something out of his control will turn it to bad (ie he was for sure going to get a job that paid double his salary , they offered it to him-then retracted b/c they realized they didn't have the funds).

So will this ever end???? Is there a way to rid of the black cloud that follows him daily. He's a good person, isn't mean or selfish so I have no idea what has caused this the past year!!!

I felt this way for nearly 4 years. It was horrid. My father died (unexpectedly at age 50, 2 months after my wedding), we had a still born son, more pregnancy losses. Tried and failed to adopt a little girl from foster care, I often doubted that our DS from Guatemala would come home. It took 115 days for DNA auth alone.

It did eventually end (just recently, when our sons arrived), but I will never forget those horrid painful years.

It is not your fault. So often I would look frantically at others seemingly easy lives and wonder "What secret do they know that I don't?" Did I do something? Not do something? It just happens. There hasn't been an answer that I've found. Just hang in there and support each other.

Oh, I could have written that post myself. DH has been out of work since last Oct. We both work in the mortgage industry so it has been tough. Thank God we have DD to keep us focused and sane.

if you figure it out... let me know. my life and the life of my family members is crazy...nothing normal ever happens to us. and then last year my mom met someone who has her birthday...she said something about his birthday and he said, "yes, and apparently according to the Chinese calendar i was born on the most chaotic day of the year and so my life will always be chaotic." my mom about fell over...as her life has been like this since she was born....she must've passes it on to all of us. lol. i suggest laughter....bc if i had not learned to laugh off much of what happesn to me and my family, i'd be crazy.

As an all Italian I would say you have the malokya. Dont know how its spelled but I sure know how it feels. I hurt my back almost 2 years ago. I had back surgery in March that took every cent of our saving. We lost a baby mid adoption from Guatemala. My daughter left home 13 months ago with my grandaughter. Have not seen or heard from her since. My sons car was hit a few months ago and no one was in it. DAmaged whole front. Surprise my FIL staying here most of the time was diagnosed with TB. My 18 year old has a pre-cancer mole that MUST be removed NOW. G started full time kinder today and I only found out a few days ago that its full time.
Oh yeah and I stepped in dog crap just last night.
So what did I do? Put the Italian horns back on that we got lazy and took off as well as our "fingers". Bought garlic and put it by all the beds.
Then I took a good look around and thanked GOD for what I did have.
I am sorry for your husbands string of luck. It will get better.
Patty

All I can say is I'm right there with your husband.
-I got laid off from my job in March because of corporate downsizing (I'm the main bread winner in the family so this was a major hit).
-Our adoption is complete but our daughter can't leave the country and we are now having to pay monthly foster care fees.
-My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer (I just lost my other 2 grandparents within 3 months of each other at the end of last year).
-I went to Guatemala to get our daughters visa and contracted something while at the hogar, the doctor's through the cancer word around originally but after over a month on antibiotics I'm starting to feel better.
-My fridge just went up yesterday.
-My son has been going to college out of state but has had to transfer to the community college this year because we can't afford the tuition.
-I own one of those large swim spas for my arthritis, Monday I realized it wasn't running. I can't afford to have service done on it so I had to drain it until I get a job and we get back on our feet. So much for my exercise.

I know things could get worse but the financial stress we are under right now is having a impact on my marriage and the emotional stress with our adoption is wearing me down.

I need the black cloud to move on it's been with me long enough.
