Question What would you do about ....

celebrating 2 gotcha days that are 2 1/2 weeks apart? Would you have 2 to celebrate each childs or slipt the difference in the times they came home and celebrate 1 gotcha day?

Sara Ava's 2nd gotcha day is Sept 16 and Lilee's is Oct. 4th.

I guess to me it depends on the focus of the day. If it's a day to focus on your family as a whole, then I would probably combine the two. If it's a day to focus on them as an individual and their journey to your family then I would have seperate celebrations.

Not really sure what I'd do - personally I just celebrate with my heart when I look at the milestones/ steps in the process. But since you do - I'm thinking at this young age you could combine the day. Perhaps when they're older take each one out to their favorite restaurant. I have kitchen calendars dating back to 2006 with lots of 'firsts' written. And I do often go back for a looksee, especially at this time of year as we just celebrated the 2nd anniversary of DS and I becoming a family.

We don't have an actual celebration of that day, other than just remembering in our hearts what a special day it was.
I think any way you decide to remember the day will be special to your girls though.

I can tell you what we do. My son came home on April 4th and my daughter came home on April 27th of the following year. So their days are close, though not quite as close as yours. We celebrate each Family Day individually. I look at it as each child's special day to celebrate when they joined our family. It's true that it is primarily about our family, but I look at it as a way of celebrating how that child came to us and how s/he makes our family special. We keep the celebration to just our immediate family, doing an activity that is that child's favorite. Since my kids are still so young, that generally involves a playground and some Chicken McNuggets. As they get older, I think they'll choose what they want to do.

Personally, I would do 2 individual Gotcha Days! Just to recognize each little one individually!
Have fun with whatever you decide to do!

I would still do one for each. We don't do big fancy family anniversary days but we make a big deal out of the day because it is a big deal to us.
Usually we fix a special dinner and I get a card or make one (my son likes me to make his stuff) and then we might do something small like go to the park or watch the gotcha movie. We ALWAYS take pictures and just kind of try to make them feel special.
