List of tests to be run
Does anyone have the longggg list of tests to be run on child when you return home ? I can't find it from our last adoption.

This is the list that my doctor ordered (blood tests):
HBs Ag, anti-HBs anti-HBC HIV ELISA Lead Antitoxoid antibody to diptheria and tetanus toxins Neutralizing antibodies to polio IgG for measles, mumps, and rubella Checked off also: CBCD w/Diff THYRS (thyroid function screen profile) RPR Last edited by 052001 : 08-28-2008 at 11:35 AM.

Here's Dr. Deborah Borchers's list. She is a well known adoption medicine professional, and the single Mom of 3 daughters from China.
Newborn screening panel (young infants only) Complete blood count and ZPPH (iron deficiency test) HIV antibody; Hepatitis B panel; hepatitis C antibody (on arrival and 6 months postplacement) Serologic test for syphilis Thyroid function tests Lead level Stool examination for ova and parasites (three preserved specimens - you'll get vials at the visit to collect and drop off) Stool examination for Giardia antigen (one fresh specimen) Urinalysis if growth deficient, symptomatic, or any history of issues Calcium, phosphorus, and alkaline phosphatase levels, if child has stigmata of rickets If height deficiency is profound, further lab evaluation for short stature Tuberculin skin test (on arrival and 6 months postplacement - this is crucial) Sharon

WOW some of the tests you all listed weren't done on my daughter, but she's healthy and has been home almost two years so I guess it's too late to worry about now? right?

We didn't do all of the tests on the list I posted. We really felt some were unnecessary.
I definitely recommend doing the titers, though. We did the titers, and they ended up being a big help when our not-so-friendly County Health Department would not accept any of the Guatemalan immunization records. Kris
