Not the results we had hoped for...
Well...I told you all I would keep you posted, so here I go.
Tessa (15 months) had an MRI and a Pet Scan this week which both came back abnormal. On her MRI it showed thickening of one of her neck muscles, which she will need physical therapy for...no biggie...we're used to that. Her Pet Scan on the other hand was disheartening to say the least. Throughout most of her brain, it doesn't metabolize glucose like it should for someone her age. What that means is that her brain doesn't function as well as it should for someone her age. She doesn't have a diagnosis, except for epilepsy, so we're not really sure what that all means. We just know that God gave her to us for a reason and we will do all that we can to make sure she has the most happy and productive life she can. For today, though...I feel like crawling in bed and not coming out for awhile. Tomorrow will be better and I'll stand up and fight for my two sweet princessas with all that I have. Today I'm just sad.

My husband and I talk all the time about special gifts and special needs. Often the two come in the same package. The epilepsy and abnormal PET scan are signs of some of the special needs that Tessa has....but her photos sure suggest some wonderful special gifts.
Allow yourself time to grieve the loss of that perfect baby/child we all fantasize about.....and then savor all of her special gifts. Thank you for sharing your update, and your bravery, and your very natural desire to crawl back into bed...Wishing strength to you and your family.

Having spent the weekend in bed myself (figuratively, of course) I understand. I told myself I had two days to sulk about everything and then I had to snap out of it.
Only a mother can really understand how it feels to realize that all the little dreams you had about your child won't happen quite the way you had thought. Take your time to do the same and don't feel guilty about it. Lots of love.

I am sorry you did not receive the results you had hoped for. Your little girl is adorable and I am sure she will have a wonderful, meaningful and productive life and bring your family much joy and happiness. I can tell she has a very special family to support her in all ways.

Amy, I'm sorry the results weren't what you expected. I agree though to grieve today and fight tomorrow. At least now that you have the knowledge of what's going on you will better kow how to help that sweet little girl!
