Is Guatemala open for adoptions?
I had been interested in adopting from guatemala a couple of years ago, but we decided we wanted to wait. Right about that time there was all the talk about the Hague, and I thought that Guat adoptions were going to be stopped. But I see all you on here still adopting. Is it still open? We were looking at doing domestic but if Guat is still open I might consider going that route isntead.

no..it is closed. the cases you see now were already pending when it shut down.
 we are all waiting to see if it will re-open...but no one really knows if or when that will happen.

Guatemala is not currently open to new adoptions. Those you see here in process were grandfathered in prior to Guatemala and the US becoming Hague countries.
Hopefully they will be reopening, but at this point there is no definitive plan/timeline for that happening. Good luck!
