Question How Many Have Kids In Dance Class?

I was just curious how mnay of us have our children in dance class? My girls went to their very first class last night and although they both had melt downs they say they're going back. LOL!

So do you have your children in dance? If so what age did they start and how did they do?

If yuo'd like to take a peek at my dancing divas you can see them on my blog!! They're too cute in their little leotards and tap shoes!!!

My older dd, Kellie has been taking class since she is 3. She takes four dance classes a week (she's now 10). Totally loves it! I'll enroll Mollie at 3 (or potty trained). She is always trying to go into her big sister's dance class; so I think she'll love going too. She also gets lots of attention when we are there from the dance teachers; she loves be fussed over! So she'll be very comfortable taking a class.

My older dd dance recital was in June. I was thinking Mollie would never make it to the end watching; because it was over 3 hours. She watched the whole show; clapping and saying hooray for every number.

Yes, your little girls looks so adorable in the dance attire!

My little girls, three next month, have been practicing Hula nearly daily with their siblings but have not gone to the class. Five of my other children go twice weekly. Next month the girls turn three and we plan to start taking them. The Hula class lets parents take them earlier then that, parent works alongside with the child, but since I am there a long time, boys class, younger girls class and adult I do not want to have to deal with the little ones having to wait while siblings are dancing. I think three is a good age. It is nice for them to be in a setting with other little ones. Anna

MY DD started at 4, is now 11 and takes 8 classes 4 days a week. When she was 3, she was in soccer and was dancing on the field. She's now taking pre-pointe classes and absolutely loves dance.

Vanessa, what cute pictures of your girls! I am going to send you a PM..I have a question about your blog!

Aly is only two and we did the Little Gym. I plan on having her in dance when she is potty trained. She loves to dance and do gym moves. She is having a blast copying what she see on TV with the Olympics.

Since you asked...

My dd started taking taking ballet at 3 and switched over to ballroom at 8. She is now almost 10 and came home the Junior Champion at the Florida State Ballroom Championship last month. She loves it and gets such great exercise doing it. My youngest will be starting some kind of dance (she hasn't decided yet) soon. Ali

Do you guys think starting at 3 is OK....I want to start my DD this fall and she just turned 3 in May.

I have two options...a more "traditional" ballet/tap class or a sort of dance/arts/storytelling. I kind of want the more traditional one (because she gets the other kind of stuff at preschool). She loves to dance, and she's pretty good about listening (to anyone but me...). TIA.

I just enrolled my daughter yesturday for her second year. Last year when she started she was 3 1/2 and of course was placed in a first-year class but after the first class, the teacher came out and told me that she was moving her to a second-year class because she had so much natural ability, she needed to be with an older group. Let me tell you, she was the cutest thing ever.....a head shorter and the only one with dark curly hair and the youngest (the other girls were 5) At the recital, she stole the show....we are very proud of her. So yesturday when I enrolled her for this year, the teacher said she is going to put her in class with 1st graders....she just started preschool! Very proud of my little princess!

Your daughter's are adorable.
I can't wait to sign Kate up for dance.
I am torn between starting in the 2 year old Mommy and Me ballet/tap classes next semester, or waiting for her to turn 3 and she can go by herself.

Thanks to all of you who responded!! My girls are both two well actually Olivia just turned two and Arianna will be three in Nov. Olivia is almost potty trained and Arianna has been since her 2nd birthday so this is why we started them. I'm hoping they will do well and I'll keep you all posted!!!
Oh and I would LOVE for my girls to do ballroom dancing since I LOVE watching the kids do it on tv but have not found a place that does it here!

My SON started dance last year at 6.5 yo (its an all boys hip hop/jazz class). He loves to dance but has a hard time remembering choreography. Oh well, he has FUN. Poor kid had a 103 fever the weekend of his first recital but he insisted on going (he was looked over and told not contagious). He looked so wiped out on stage but he did the best that he could.

My daughter started dance class this year the week of her 3rd birthday,,, she does great,, she tries really hard and loves it,,, every time she sees a line on the ground now she says it is "the dance line" and has to stand on it like they do in class,,, so very cute...
They are having a big concert at the end of the year in a big theatre in town and the preschool class will be in it too,,, we are soooo excited ...

My little girl started dance class this summer. She is not even three but they put the kids in there alone with the teacher(no mommy and me bit). She seems to like it, so I will most likely sign her up again in the fall, if I can find a day to fit my schedule.
