Does anyone have any idea what will happen with cases in which the children are in the custody of the MP (Ministerio Publico), due to the hogar they were in being raided? I am asking this in regard to the PGN BMI deadline announced by the CNA.
In these cases, the children are not in the custody of the hogar, but rather in the custody of the MP and therefore, the hogar cannot just bring the child to the PGN with the Birthmother to request an interview. It is likely that these cases will not be released by the MP in time to meet the 08/31/2008 deadline. So, what happens to them? Does anyone know if there were be consideration given to allow these cases to complete their BMI with the PGN once they are released by the MP? If no one knows, do you have any idea who I could contact to find out? Any info you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jen |

Jen:
Are you a member of Guatadopt? If so go to the forums and read the PGNers board and the post titled: Birth Mother Interviews. It may give you the info you need. If you are not a member, I would suggest joining. |

Although our daughter is not part of the raided hogar, her case is tied up in the MP. They have agreed to release the file for one day so the BMI can happen before the CNA deadline. Maybe the same thing could happen for all the kids being held from the hogar?
Praying it all works out!

So far, we've been told that the reason for this deadline is to 'prompt' these attornies that have been sitting on cases to get a move on and get the birthmoms in. Sad to think they think they have to take such drastic measures; but apparently there are some attornies out there that are taking their time, and dragging things out (for more $? I can only wonder).
I don't think anyone knows what will happen to the abandonment cases, at least not just yet. DOS is talking like they are going to try to help, but I don't hold my breath. Unfortunately we're at a 'wait and see' I think. Sorry it isn't more hopeful

Not abandonment...
Just FYI... Our case is not an abandonment.
Our daughter was in a hogar that was raided by the MP and the babies were taken into custody. Our daughter's birthmother was recently interviewed successfully by the MP. I believe our daughter will be returned soon to the custody of the original hogar, however, it will be too late for the BMI to occur by the CNA deadline. Does anyone have any information on how the CNA will handle these cases? Thanks, Jen |

Jen,
I'm sorry I assumed abandonment status due to the hogar reference; that's what I get for assuming ![]() Still, we're told it's an effort to get attornies to get moving on the BMI interviews, period. Which if yours has already happened, I would think you're a leg up. Not sure how yours would work since the MP has interviewed the bmom and not the CNA themselves. I don't know if they would need another one or not, or if the CNA would accept that interview if they did not have a rep present. I'm really not sure. Maybe you could contact the CNA directly and they might be able to tell you? Tecu (head of CNA) has said he will hear cases on a case-by-case basis. Altho I've also heard he only wants to talk to attornies (who knows). Or you could email someone at guatadopt directly? They're usually swamped, but when I had trouble with our case, they were able to get back to me via email. I don't know just tossing out ideas. I pray this gets resolved asap; hang on and stay strong. There are a lot of people behind you that are still waiting, too (me included!) We got your back ![]()
