Hi all~
Our birth mother has been missing for months and we are aware of the Aug. 31 deadline imposed by the CNA for birth mother interviews. Has anyone heard what this means, if the birthmom cannot or will not come in? I am desperate for any answers. I am aware of the speculation....I need real information.

i read in Guatadopt that if the interview is not done by august 31 they will consider the case as abandonment and the cases has to go by the new adoption law.

We're in the same boat as you. Our birthmom's first appt. was 5/20 and she is still no where to be found. Our lawyer assures us he'll find her but time is running out. I'd like to know how many cases are left in PGN without a BMI.
I can't imagine the case load that will be on the "competent judge's" desk.

I'm praying for all of us!

my thoughts - but do what you can to help locate her. look and ask all the questions. the attorneys appear to be so busy or short handed, that their attempts to finish things sometimes appear to be minimal at best. I cannot speak for all attorneys, but try your best to see what you can find out. don't give up. many attorneys don't want to spend an extra dime to expedite the mother's trip or get here there safe and sound. just our experience - it took several months for our birthmom to come in and many stories later...

THere are searchers who search for birthmoms, usually after the adoption is final, but maybe in this case they would do it. It will cost at least $600 approx. You can pm me, and I can tell you about my searcher.

We're still praying for all of the waiting families! My heart goes out to all of you as you wait for your children!! I'll be praying that the deadline is pushed back or that these interviews are complete! Keep your head up though this baby needs you!

There are searchers out there that will try to locate these women and help them get to an appointment.

In this case, with the threat of your case turning into an abandonment (and it has not been determined yet if they will be part of the grandfathering), I would NOT believe what I was hearing from the agency/attorney.

This is something that is too important to wait around waiting for someone else to do this....
I know that no one wants to have to spend more $$$ but... if you are able to find out the truth...it would be well worth it.

i am so sorry that you are in this situation. i can't imagine how awful it would be.

wouldn't it be great if someone did have the answer? no one knows yet though...i think everyone is speculating.

if it were me i would hire a searcher right away.

my thoughts are with all of you in this difficult predicament.
