I am looking for information on Humanitarian Aid/Mission Projects in Guatemala. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

I HIGHLY suggest looking into mayanfamilies.com

They are an amazing group and our Ohio Adoptive Group here has two students that we sponsor. You don't have tp sponsor students to go to school though, there are MANY things that you can do through them. Wonderful people to work with.

Thank you for the information. When we adopted our son back in October 2006, seeing the poverty children in Guatemala suffer just bothered us so much. When we came home we decided we would start a group to help the children. Then in December we saw how huge the need was right here in our own community and decided we need to put all our energy into our own community. I asked 6 of my friends to join me in helping families with clothing and personal care items and start different projects in the community to help families in need. They all wanted to help and the Friendship Tree and Outreach Network was founded. Over the last 1 1/2 years we have grown to helping families with furniture and household items and we have been a driving force in our community for hosting drives for what ever needs our community has. We have grown from my 6 friends to 370 members. All of who want to make a difference in the community.

Now that we are so well established in our own community, I feel it is time to incorporate an international mission and start a project that helps the children of Guatemala. We are going to be featured in Women's World magazine in the next few weeks and this national recognition can only help an international mission.

Thank you again,

Katie

There are a lot of great groups doing work in Guatemala. I also support Mayan Families. I was just there last week visiting, and am very impressed.
