Red face

We didn't venture out too much, but LA ESTANCIA is next to the Embassy and was very good. We also went to a TGI Fridays.

Where are you staying? There are many small shops and restaurants near the Westign. One we tried was the Taco Inn. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was casual and open air on a street corner. The service was only so-so. We plan on going to more formal restaurants when we go for our pickup trip.

Good luck!

restaurants in zone 10

There are many good restaurants in zone 10, where are you staying?

Los Ranchos (Nicaraguan, excellent food) next to the Westin, Inka Grill (Peruvian, great food!) around the corner from the Westin, another good one is the Mexican restaurant right after Taco Inn (in front of the Intercontinental), also Tre Fratelli (Italian/international, next to Intercontinental) and Kakao (Guatemalan, across the street from Tre Fratelli).

More low key but great: the San Martin Bakeries (one block north from the Westin) they have a full menu with great soups and salads and the bread is awesome.

In the building next to La Estancia (next to the Embassy) there are a couple good restaurants, too.

You will not run out of options.

Hi!

We really like Kakao, Hacienda Reale ,and Portal de la Angel ( I think that is the name) has a shuttle that will pick you up at your hotel and bring you to their restaurant which is high up on a hill and overlooks the city. It is very beautiful at night and well worth the trip!

Near the Westin-Casa Chapina is a few stores away. Also there is a mall 3 walking blocks away with very inexpensive fast food guat/Mexican foods. There is a food court there. This is great for lunch. The mall is really neat. It is an open mall. Also, at the corner from the Westin there are a few restaurants that we ate at-Guatemalan foods. Everywhere we ate the food was very good and very reasonable. The hotel prices were extremely high. night time buffet was$ 40.00 a person, and the breakfast was $25.00 a person. That is way high for what you get. We did go over to the Marriott for the night time buffet as we were there on our visit trip and really liked the food. The price is $17.00 for the night time buffet a person, and the food is very good. Explore and take a walk around, and you will find a lot of places to eat and see the city a little bit. Walk in the day to find the places, take pictures, and enjoy your trip!!

My 2 dinner recommendations were mentioned above--

La Estancia has great steaks & baked potatoes....strolling entertainers (right next door to Embassy - on opposite side from Casa Grande)

And Kakao makes a great last night celebration restaurant--gorgeous atmosphere makes you think you are eating in a jungle/beatiful sawdust carpet under glass; kids love it & also great Mayan/traditional foods & waiters in local costume.

Don't just eat at hotel unless you have to (as in visit trip)....I agree with get out & see things.

We LOVED Taco Tinto (across the street from Taco Inn) it is open air, casual taco place and right up our alley!! YUM!!
We also really enjoyed a great meal at the mexican place near Taco Inn. It has a big wood/wrought iron door and these really cool hanging lanterns inside.
Can't think of the name.
