just 4 fun: how many times have you been to urgent care/ER with your kid?

i've only taken eli once....a few months ago he fell (he's a toe walker) and split his lip open in 3 places. i've also taken his brother in 5 times for various illnesses, an injury from a shopping cart, and an injury from running into a couch. i think for raising 4 boys i'm doing pretty good so far. lol. what about you?

(p.s.....once when i took ds5 in, there was another kid in the urgent care who had stuck a googly eye up his nose. lol. ds5 was only 1 at the time, and the other kid was 4....at the time i thought, "how stupid can you be?" then i had a 4 year old boy, and realized that was pretty normal behavior. lol.)

None, so far....but she's only been home about 2 months.

But today she peed on 2 of the pillows on my bed (and somehow I found that hysterically funny at the time which made her laugh too & pee some more -- it was all my fault for letting run away from me on the bed without a diaper).

She has starting climbing so I look to at least 1 ER visit in the next year or so.

We have been to the ER 4 times so far in Kelcee's short little life. 2 because she had allergic reactions to her vaccines, once because she broke out in hives all over and started having trouble breathing, and once because she had the flu really bad and had another episode of breathing problems. Wow I have an over active kid!

we've gone twice. Once after a car accident to make sure he was ok and once when we couldn't get his temp down below 106. If I never have to go again, it would be fine by me!!

Only twice - and I'm quite happy with that!!

One time when I was convinced he had an ear infection and it was a Saturday. (he didn't have an ear infection - it was just a virus)

The second time we thought he broke his foot!!! It was on a Friday night 4 days before our foster son's surgery!! Luckily we think it was just a sprain or a muscle pull as he was fine the next day.

(Knock on wood!!!)

Gabriel twice. He walked into a wall (not the corner, just a flat wall) and needed six stiches just above his left eye. He was 2 at the time. Then six months later he fell and his eye landed on the runner of a rocking chair. Five stitches right next to his right eye on that one.

Carolina at age 21 months. She fell and busted her lip open -- that visit required the services of a plastic surgeon. And she looks fabulous, BTW.

Clair-Elise just last week. V. high fever. She's fine now.

So that's 4 visits, 3 kids, in the last 5 1/2 years. Pretty typical, I guess?

Funny you ask...I thought we were going to have to go today....She shut her finger in the door and her fingernail was bleeding and then she wraped the cord from the blinds around her neck...AHHHHHHH and then hit her head later on the couch.

This has been one of those days were you just go to bed HAPPY that your kids are breathing.

We have been to the ER once with Kya since coming home and it was for a HIGH fever...0 for Jagger as of now.

I guess I'm very lucky--DS is a climber and has had many bumps and bruises, but in almost 2 years we've never been to the ER.

We've been there a couple of times with Maria. Once for the flu and once for an ear infection. Thank goodness, nothing up the nose or in the ear or anything too gross yet! But I totally expect it in the near future!!

OK, this thread is freaking me out in so many ways. First of all, I am cringing at everything I read here, knowing "there but for the grace of God . . . " and secondly, I am afraid to jinx myself. So I will say I have been there 6,294 times . . . OK, actually none YET, and I pray it stays that way!

My dd has been to urgent care twice due to ear infections and fever. No trips to the ER with her YET. My son is a different story UUGGHH...he has has stitches in his foot at 1 yr old (hit it on a pole outside), staples in his head at 2 (riding a ride on toy and fell back in driveway), broken arm at 3 (fell off his bike, even with training wheels), staples AGAIN at 4 (OMG..he did a foward flip off the side of the pool on vacation in FL!!!!). He is now 7 and has not been since he was 6, then he went for a persistent fever not responding to medication. THANK the Lord he has calmed down. I sure hope my little diva doesnt take the same path he did..although she is a CLIMBER!!

Oh my gosh, let me think

rubella: 1
stitches: 1
broken arms: 2
ear infections: 3
RSV/breathing problems: 1
croup: 1
fever over 105: 1

urgent care: several trips due to ear infections, strep throat, bronchitis

So far, all of the above have been just for my older two (6&8yo). While my younger two have had each been to see the pediatrician at least a dozen times, we have yet to make the trip to the ER.

DS#1 - Urgent care for 5 staples in his head at age 3 after falling off a chair and hitting the end table. He should also have had stitches when he fell off his bike at age two and split his chin, but I didn't realize how bad it really was until too late to get it stitched.

DS#2 - ER for a dog bite (four pucture wounds in his cheek) and again for 5 stitches in his forehead after falling and hitting his head on the corner of the wall.

DD - Called 911 after she fell of the swing and knocked the wind out of herself and wasn't breathing. By the time I got done dialing she was breathing again though. She is the one that scares me the most. By far the most daring. But for the most part she just seems to bounce!

My nephew (now almost 20) had stiches 5 times the year he was in kindgarten! All playground incidents. My SIL was sure DSS was going to come knocking on her door!

I have often commented to DH that I am shocked we haven't ended up in the ER with DD yet. She is a daredevil extraordinaire and has no fear.

So far, only one visit(and since it was during the week and during the day, we were able to rush to the ped's office) for burns from pulling a bowl of oatmeal off the counter onto herself.

I still have such mommy guilt over that and it's been almost a year. I see the scar on her chest every day and the pangs hit me.
