Talking update on room darkening curtains

Well, I tried it and it WORKED!!!! I hung up our heavy curtains in DS's room to block the light in the morning and he slept until 7:00!!!! He did wake up at his normal time around 5:30 and cried for about half a minute and fell back asleep then woke up again around 5:45, cooed a little and feel back asleep again. I really hope I am not jinxing myself by posting this but it did seem to work. I only wish I had tried this sooner!!!

Joy

We went through the same thing this spring with our 3 year old son. Living in Minnesota - where it doesn't get dark until after 9:15 p.m. in the summer time, and sunrise is around 5:30 a.m. - we were just about at our wits end in June, just trying to get a full night's rest. A trip to Home Depot for a room-darkening shade (although we laughed, as we thought, "what other shade is there?"), a few minutes putting it over the existing blinds, and our nights now extend until 7 a.m. It has definitely been the best investment of the summer for us!
