Looking for baseball players ...
Since bringing Adrian home in the spring of 2004, he has become a very advanced baseball player. He just turned 5 on July 2 and has played travel baseball with 7-9-year-olds all summer. Off 39-42 mph machine pitch, he's batting .333 (9-for-27).
Anyway, we were wondering if there are any other Guatemala boys playing baseball. If so, we would love to explore the possibility of putting together a team of adopted Guatemalan boys to play in a tournament or two. We think it would be a great opportunity to spread the word of adoption with the emphasis on Guatemalan adoption. Adopting Adrian is by far the greatest thing we've ever done in our lives. Adrian is our only child and he absolutely means the world to us. He is such a good boy. So very loving, very handsome and very bright. He has won his school's phys ed award the past two years and was named his school's top all-around student this year. The following link is to a video we made a year ago of Adrian playing baseball when he was 3: YouTube - The Natural If you have a Guatemalan son playing baseball or know of any Guatemalan boys playing, please let us know. As always, God bless all of you for what you're doing for these children. |

He's Awsome! I called DH and DS into my study to watch the video and they liked it too.
DS is only 2 1/2, but also is a budding baseball player. I cant wait until he turns 3 and we can get him in a league...althouth he thinks he is "too good" for tball and perfers real pitches.

That is incredible!! That brought many tears to my eyes.
Our son Sam turned 2 in May. He is obsessed (and I don't use that term lightly) with baseball, bats, balls, catching, etc., etc. I have never seen anything like it. He can already hit the ball pretty well off the T. What can I be doing to foster his passion?? I don't want to push, but his desire is there!!

That is great!! Parker has played ball since age 4. Last year he played t-ball and this year coach pitch. He's fairly good, but nothing like your sweet little man!
Jules...I think you live in Lenexa. At age 4 you can sign up for t-ball with Johson County 3 & 2. I have been very pleased with the programs, so far.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. ... Jules -- to foster Sam's passion for baseball, just watch/attend as many games with him as you can and get him involved in T-ball as soon as possible. That's what we did. Good luck to you. ... If any of you have Guatemalan boys age 5-9 playing baseball, please let us know. It would be really cool to try to get together for a tournament or something. With the distance folks live from each other, we realize it would probably be tough to pull it off. But it's worth a shot. Thanks again.

Maybe you could add siblings of adopted Guat. kids.
Our guy is the age group you are looking at and we are currently playing tournaments (all stars rec. league) and CAN"T WAIT until Fall ball starts. We actually go out of county of play fall baseball! Our son loves it too and we didn't really have to do anything other than play with him and let him have fun. I have learned though that the kids who love it naturally are better off in the long run that the kids who have parents who LOVE it and the kids could take it or leave it. We are actually running off to practice right now or I would look at the video. I will get my son with me and watch it when we get back tonight. He is excited to watch it. My son reads bio. info on favorite players and they all were super good players at a young age. You might have a major leaguer on your hands!!! We mightl be calling you someday trying to score World Series tickets!! That is great he is so talented.

Oh my gosh! I just showed Sam Adrian's video - FIVE times straight.
He was completely absorbed and when it would end, he would scream, "Mama, more hit! Mama, more catch!" Wow. Your son is adorable and so very talented! I know you must be incredibly proud.
