I visited Antigua, and had lunch at the Posada de Don Rodrigo. It was a beautiful property and seemed like a very sweet place to stay--I've heard very good things about it. If you don't stay there, make sure to swing by there for the food. The courtyards and beautiful.

We stayed twice at the Hotel Aurora...very reasonable IMO, no cooking facilities, but easy walk to Dona Louisa (sp?) and other nice eateries. Lovely courtyard for r&r and time outside with baby. We have many great memories there.

We just spent 3 days at Quinta de las Flores in Antigua--we plan to stay there again. While about a 10-15 walk from the central park and fountain, I found it wonderful: beautiful grounds with pool & playground, relaxing atmosphere, & reasonable prices for the rooms and food (1 restaurant). We stayed at the more expensive "Casita", which sleeps up to 5 ($140/night, including taxes) b/c there were 3 adults and 2 children. It had 2 BRs, a kitchen, DR, LR with fireplace, 1.5 bathrooms and a little garden in back. You can definitely cook there, as long as you remember to bring whatever you need since it's a little far to go to the mkt. We absolutely loved it. Google them.

quinta de las flores

I too recommend the Quinta de las Flores. We stayed back in May there, and we loved it. When we go back to Guatemala we will stay there again for sure. We also stayed in the Casitas and loved them. Lots of room to move around and cook if you want to. The playground and pool were wonderful there. The grounds are so beautiful, you'll never want to leave! PM me if you want more information or pictures.

thanks,
Magen

Contat Nancy Hoffman, pm me if you need her number. She's a travel agent that lives in Antigua and she has always arranged our drivers for us and she could give you the low down on all the different hotels too.

I recommend Casa Rustica. The owner is Darryl Hicks and he is from the states and is WONDERFUL! They have a common kitchen where you can cook. PM me if you have other questions.
