OT: North Carolina Beaches
We are looking to spend a couple of nights at the beach in North Carolina

We love Corolla in the Outer Banks...but always rent a house so no hotel suggestions.

I would definitely tell you to rent a condo on the beach. We used to own one in North Top Sail Island. You'll be right on the beach. It also had a pool and laundary.
The houses on the beach can be very expensive to rent.

We don't go to hotels - far more expensive than renting a house for a week or two (of course we have a group of 8). We also try to rent on the bay / inlet side so it's a little less expensive.
We've stayed in Duck, Corolla and N. Topsail Island - Duck's beaches were so-so, Corolla and Topsail were great.
