OT: patio decor ideas? hispanic theme
Totally off topic but I'm doing some retail/decorating therapy to get thru our latest KO from PGN and I need some ideas!
We are putting in a 14X14 stone patio in the lower level of our back yard and I'd really like to decorate it in a hispanic/mexican theme. ---my mom was 1/2 mexican and I love 'look' of the spanish decor. So I'm looking for ideas and you guys are SOOO great about that!! we're doing a light orange-ish/creme-ish colored stone - not quite as orange as terracotta but has some orange in it. We're going to get a chiminea....a mayan hammock. I have a bright blue planter and will get more planters to have potted plants. The area is surrounded on the back and halfway up the two sides by a 26" retaining wall with trees and rhodies on the level above it. so it's already somewhat enclosed and shaded. we dont have a lot of money this year for good quality furniture but we did find this set on a killer clearance deal - not quite mexican-ish but it's cute and will do for now: Walmart.com : Better Homes and Gardens Sunbridge 4-Piece Furniture Set : Patio Furniture any ideas?? any links to pics? I'm SO glad you guys are here ![]()

No new ideas but I like what you're doing and I think the furniture is really nice. Good luck.

If you have a full sun area, there are Hibiscus trees that are perennials (even in cold weather environments such as the midwest). Additionally, there is a plant called Lungwort (a perennial) that likes shade and resembles an aloe plant as it matures; it is not a commonly used plant. It draws a lot of comments in my garden.
Terra Cotta pots with bright blues and yellow could achieve the look you are going for as well. Target has some great table clothes in the style you are going for as well. Lastly, outdoor lighting (black iron) really works. |

Plants at Walmart
Walmart is carrying BIG majesty palm trees on sale for $8!!
They will die in the fall after the first frost but at that price why not pick up a couple?!~ Target has GREAT outdoor dinnerware, platters, etc...that should be on clearance by now. Good luck!~ My grandfather was full blooded Cuban and I love a Spanish flair! Kim
