Eye Popping OT: Price of Milk

Well since everything is going up...how much is milk in your area...(spin off from how much is meat/chicken)?

I bought milk the other day 1/2 gallon and it cost me 2.55..I use to pay a few years ago 1.09.

My friend called me the other day and told me milk by her is almost 6.00 for a gallon..which is only 15 minutes from me!!!!

We buy the 1/2 gallon Horizon Organic for Gabbie and it is $4.50 at our grocery store!!! We buy two a week for her at home and 1 every two weeks for her at the sitters so there are some weeks where we spend nearly $15 on her milk alone. She is drinking whole milk right now too so we buy a gallon of 1% milk for us as well which is running anywhere from $3.25-$4.00.

Milk is getting super expensive. All groceries seem to be going up as well. Our grocery bill used to be $80-$100 a week for a family of 3 but now we are spending $125-$140 a week!

This is a big deal for us - I have two hefty milk drinkers/cereal eaters - we go through a gallon a day easy...

I buy my milk at a different store than I do all of my other shopping...because I can get 2 Gallons for 7.50.

Otherwise it's $4 a gallon at our normal store where I shop.

It's also 3.88 at Walmart - which is further away.

I stop at Safeway on the way home every other day and buy milk...otherwise I shop ay Fry's...

$2.30 per half gallon -- delivered to my door by our milkman

I used to think getting milk delivered would be a costly luxury, but the milk actually costs LESS than in our local grocery store, and it is super-fresh. They are a local dairy that does not sell wholesale to grocery stores -- just directly to the end user, and they DELIVER! We get three half-gallons per week, but I will soon be upping it to four (Clair-Elise is now off formula). We get our eggs, cream, butter from them as well.

Groceries are so expensive!
Today I spent 300.00 for us and only bought two pounds of bacon as meat and one gallon of milk.
Milk this week was only 2.49 but fruits and veggies are unbelievable.
Eggs are also crazy. I spent $1.50 A dozen and at the beginning of the year I paid .99.
I am so wishing I had planted a garden this year.

Jamie loves milk and we go through almost a gallon a week (he is the only one that drinks it). Our Costco features a hormone-free brand for 3.11/gallon-2%. I was buying organic at 3.50/half-gallon and switched to this when he turned two.

All groceries are up in our area; we eat alot of salads and leaf-lettuce was .99/bunch last summer and now 1.59.

A gallon of milk is priced for $3.50, but I sometimes get it cheaper since my store matches competitors' prices.

Soooo cool! I keep telling the Schwans man . . . If he would just deliver milk!

I am excited when I find in for $2.50 a gallon or less and $3.00 - $3.50 a gallon is more the 'norm.' I typically get it at Kroger or Costco.

DD is the only one who drinks it, but we go through a LOT on cereal with it on four bowls most every morning and my older son often eats cereal for lunch and snacks.

Yes indeed - I'm starting to cringe when I hear "moah milk please mama" ... not really but it is getting tough. DS is on organic milk and I'm always downloading coupons for a dollar off - and get my co-workers do the same. My cubicle neighbor and I are big coupon users so we know what we each use and do a lot of swapping. How do I save money - ummm - by volunteering for any and everything at work that might include a free lunch! And yes, if there are any leftover and they say 'please take another' I tend to get there pretty quickly.

I was buying organic milk but once it got to $4.00 a half gallon we switched to a no growth hormone milk that I just paid $5.09 a gallon for. DS drinks pedisure which costs about $9.00 for a 6 pack (he gets one a day) and rice milk which is thankfully cheaper than cows milk...I am still only paying about $2.79 a half gallon.

Milk here is a whooping $4.89!! We're BIG milk drinkers here so we go through it fast! We also never get coupons and our Wal-Mart doesn't even do matching ads for milk nor eggs!! Oh and eggs are another BIG deal here! We're paying $1.69 a dozen!!

I don't buy grocery store milk...ever. However from the dairy I buy raw milk from it is organic and $4 a gallon.... didn't know the stuff at the grocery store had gotten so pricey....
We easily go through a gallon a day here... but we only do raw products... my stint (As a child) living on a dairy farm made me never want to drink the stuff from the grocery store.
