Recent CNA post Question to Rule #5
I was hoping to get some help on this Rule that was posted yesterday by the CNA.
Here is the rule: "V. Finally, an appeal is made to all biological mothers or fathers who have voluntarily given their children up for adoption in the years 2005 to 2007, as well as those who have been subjected to coercion or deception and anyone who knows of them, to present themselves at the Attorney General's Office." We currently have a trip planned to go back to Guatemala to visit friends from Guatemala we meet during our long journey to bring our daughter home. I lived in Guatemala for 9 months with my daughter while waiting for the adoption to complete. I feel our adoption was 100% legal with no corruption but there is no way for us to know for sure. My question is do we stand any risk of problems going back there? Our adoption took 15 months and completed December 2007. We have all of our daughters legal paperwork. We have also visited once before since her arrival to the US. This will be our second trip back since the adoption completion. Im a little nervous after what we went through in the adoption. The rule is very strange and Im not sure what they are trying to accomplish. We leave at the beginning of next week so any help would be appreciated.

Just a guess; I am wondering if a) CNA is looking to somehow keep track of the birthmoms that relinquished their children, even if it was before CNA existed; b) CNA is looking back at historical cases for potential fraud? Not sure what they can do if it is point B, if the adoptions are already complete.
As we know, we can probably guess the intentions forever until we know the true story ![]()
