Has anybody used an "adoption rate" on any of the airlines and if so how did it work out? We have called some airlines for informaiton but since we don't have our travel timeframe yet they aren't very helpful.

If anybody has any informaion on this can you please pass it along? ( Good ,bad indifferent!)

Ah yes - the adoption rate. When I made inquiries a few years ago the cost of the ticket was 10% of the walk-up price. Very few people actually just show up at an airport and buy a ticket before a flight as it is really expensive. I don't know of anyone who has used the 'adoption rate' for air travel. It was less expensive to go on one of the travel websites. There is an agency and a contact - Trent?? - that people here have quoted as getting good deals. You might want to search the threads for adoption rates - and you'll come up with the hotel and airline policies/rates. Good luck

I don't know how helpful this will be, but DH actually called and "cheesed" with the guy on the phone at Continental and got us a discount. I think it ended up saving us about $700 for 3 seats, but I don't remember exactly. All I do know was it took some patience on the phone. The guy had to go ask someone, then come back input information, go ask something else, etc.

If you have the time, it's worth the effort. My DH is entertaining his parents right now and I've snuck away to get my a.com fix for the morning, so if I can get more info from him later, I'll let you know.

Delta ad NO IDEA what they were doing and told us it would be cheaper to buy DS a ticket for a seat instead of a lap ticket - HUH?!? And then when we got to the airport the woman at the counter did not even know what a lap seat was or why we would want one. She could not figure out that we were picking our son up and that we needed the lap seat for the way home. In the end, we did get a discount, but it was only good on more expensive seats. Good luck and be prepared to get passed from person to person over the phone and then still after that run into ignorant people. Maybe they have things figured out by now, but back in August they did not.

Which is funny, since Delta website says that they have International adoption fares but you can not buy them online.
Some times you need to print out stuff you find online and give it to the ticket agent so they cango from there.
