Pacifiers and ear infections- new study.

I've always been a fan of pacifiers for self comforting. New study though showing substantive increased risk of ear infection.

Thought I'd post link for anyone interested.

Question

I find this interesting as our dd has used a dummy since she was born 3 yrs ago and has only ever had one ear infection and that was the result of a cold.... (and she has had numerous colds and infections ,pnuemonia etc due to a lowered immune system) i fully believe in them for bedtime only and have never let her wander around with one while she is awake..

I didn't have time to read the link but wanted to chime in that dd also always has a pacifier for bedtime only and has only had one ear infection.
Also, there have been studies to show that they can reduce the risk of SIDS. Not saying the study has no credit just saying my experience.

I agree with the other posters, my son has is "ya-ya" as he calls it, and is addicted to it, lol...He only gets it for bed though, but sometimes will try to sneak it during the day...he will be 2 in August and has only had 1 ear infection and that was due to a nasty cold he had when he was about 4.5 months old, and has never been sick since.
